All the information on Newfoundland was fascinating. There is so much historical knowledge that we don't know. 🇬🇧

Yes! So many stories. I always find it interesting to understand more context on why and how things got to what we see now.

For lightness I would suggest Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson. Or Miss Buncle's Book by D E Stevenson. I am listening to Hilary' Mantel 's Woolf Hall in Audible - it is wonderful and as good as the book (which I read). Your podcasts are marvellous, do keep them coming!

Thanks for another book dialog! I LOVE Simone's earrings! The tsunami story sounds sad and interesting. It's also interesting to read stories of history which seems to always repeat itself in some form. For some reason the tsunami book reminded me of a book I read a few years ago called Dark Tide: The Great Boston Molasses Flood....

I love Kristin Hannah’s books which I listen to while knitting, stitching, or sometimes driving. I sometimes have to pause them at the very low spots then go back but they are so good!

I read the book Betsy recommended, The Good Good Pig. I enjoyed it very much. It was a good read after a heavy topic. Thank you Betsy, Kim

I think we need to mix it up a bit. I lean to sombre dramas, but sometimes you need to lighten things up. Always good to have suggestions.

Such a great chat! Thank you, again. I'm listening to a biography, Dinners with Ruth, by Nina Totenberg, of National Public Radio in the US. My next book is "Horse," by Geraldine Brooks, for my book group. Ahhh, reading...

Simone: I got the audiobook of CoMC because I can listen while I knit, wash dishes, drive…you know. Anyway, I cracked up when I first looked: 47 hours! And yes, if you love the book it’s a blessing. As I remember there are LOTS of people to keep straight. Kim, Eye of the Needie was a nice (and much shorter!) read, written by Ken Follett. The tsunami story is incredible. I’m going to look into that.

I went to on line to rserve a book from our library, here in Penticton. I was interested in reading the Spoon Stealer based on your discussions. To my surprise the e-books were out, the audiobooks were all out as were the hard copies. I then went to my local used book store, which has a huge inventory. They said that the books they had were all bought in the last few days, probably for a book club. ! Now either it was a coiincidence or they are also watchers of Harmony Reads. I will have to wait a few more days to read it.

How interesting! She was also sold out at our local book store, but I chided myself for thinking we made have had anything to do with it.

I enjoyed “The Count of Monte Cristo” and it would be one I would re-read. I would also re-read “The Lord of the Rings” again. Reading “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens and a classic “The Song of the Lark” by Willa Cather. Enjoying them both.

I'm reading a book now thats part mystery, part knitting....I'm very much not enjoying it, but hesitate to give up on it. I would call it a light, fluffy read...but not terribly well-written. I'm trying to get used to audiobooks so I can listen while I knit. I did put the Count of Monte Cristo in my audio library 😊. I'm also halfway through Talking To Canadians by Rick Mercer...he also narrates...I do recommend this one, on audio if you can because he is just so delightful to listen to ❤❤

I know I talked about not giving up on a book, but I would totally put one aside if the writing itself is just not well done. Well written is a must for me - whether or not I am enjoying the subject, or finding the reading difficult, it has to be well written.

There is a series of knitting mystery books that I have read the first one or two. Poorly written and that was very annoying. I resisted reading more. The narrator is key to enjoying audio books, I have found. Some audio have been enhanced with a great narrator and the opposite with the wrong one.

Isaac's Storm by Eric Larson is much like The Wake. He tells the story of a hurricane that devestated Galveston, TX and earky days of hurricane science.
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast

The book was more about the chain of events that happened after the storm and how the wave was just the catalyst that started a devastation that lasted for another 75 years. I figured out after I finished it that was the reason it was called The Wake instead of The Wave.
