Moulton invented the 12" single as well, by sheer accident. An engineer ran out of 7" discs for a test copy to give Moulton for his usual fix/mix magic. So the engineer used a 10" platter. Moulton thought it looked ridiculous to have a three minute song scrunched up at the edge and told the engineer to redo it with wider grooves. As soon as Moulton heard it, it was a revelation: Wider grooves made the lows and highs more distinct. Extended singles became industry practice almost immediately.

Harold Melvin came from a time of excellence in all things. You didn't get a recording contract unless you had the chops to make it. You didn't get a hit unless you had a great sound, great production, fantastic backing musicians, the right look and the personality...AND of course, talent. What has happened is that drugs took over the industry.. and they didn't care about quality...Music today is depressing..just horrible noise. Those who don't remember the golden age of music...........probably the mid 50s to the mid 70s give or take, simply don't understand that there was a time just before them when everything went right. Life itself was a glorious thing to behold, and the music reflected it. Sad to say, it will not return............those who remember it, cherish those times. Those new to this music, consider yourselves lucky to be able to hear it on You Tube.

The production and musicianship on this one is fabulous. It's called ear candy...........a treat for the ears, a boost to the spirit...inspiring, great to listen to.

The Philadelphia Sound dominated the best disco musical productions in the 70's....period!!.

This is such a phenomenal version. No auto tune just talented singers and wonderful musicians. Teddy has a wonderful voice such a pity he died so young.

By far one of the best remix jams I have ever heard! Smooth blend of tracks that we have not heard on the radio or the albums. You are right droopusmaximus...Moulton is a bad dude. Been remixing longer than anybody. FYI... those that do not know he invented the REMIX in the good ole 70's. I truly hope REAL music like this does not get ignored and buried. Would be such a shame. Music like this makes you smile, makes you move, makes you think, gets down in your heart and soul. You just feel it.

I'm French, born in 1964, and discovered this song by KZfaq. I had never seen a singer with such a class, with so much Glam, and such power in the voice. He was really beautiful.

This song is an absolute monster r&b/disco smash and Tom Moulton took an excellent song and made it a EXTRA EXCELLENT SONG!! like only he can do. So glad for disco and for Tom Moulton, making songs better than they already are. So sad Teddys not with us anymore, what a voice, RIP in music heaven...

I saw Mr. Pendergrass perform as a solo artist at the height of career before his accident. Stephanie Mills opened for him and they later performed together. I feel truly blessed to have had the experience. It was marvelous.

I was raised on this music, and when I hear it I feel it to my core.

Little did we know that history was being made When these songs were being played in the discos I thought that from that point on, things wud just get better and better (musically speaking). Just goes to show you, how dumb we all were back then. This song reminds Me of dancing at the CABARET on Montgomery St. In the North Beach section in San Francisco.

The 70's were a great time music wise in America. So many great artist . I am grateful that they left us all this great music

Yesssss, those were the days, B Ball with the boombox in Wingate Park in Brooklyn jammin to songs like this. Oh what a time to be able to experience that era's music. I tell this younger generation they should listen to music from back in the day, an honest listen with no prejudice or peer pressure, from the 50's DooWop to the 90's, all types, R&B, Funk, Pop, Classic Rock, even music like Cool Jazz and Brazilian, Black, White, or Latino artists. A ton of great music from all those decades, don't rob yourself of great music just because you came of age during these days of predominantly Hip Hop and Rap. My music collection is so varied, many who hear it are truly surprised. Really great music will appreciate you, listen to some of the music from back in the day(s), and if you really like it, give it a thumbs up, you will start seeing more of it when you log on and before long, you will be hooked. Very little was as good as Philly Soul in the 70s. Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes were always a win for the ears. And don't get me started on how utterly sexy Pendergrass and his voice were. Whew! Way too much heat there. RIP, you sexy devil. The entire Moulton Remixes album is stunning. So glad I picked up the CD set when it was easier (and cheaper) to get in 2012, but I wish I'd gotten the vinyl version, too. I have a feeling Philly Soul sounds best on its original format.
