For me Des Moins is THE best Heavy cruiser in the game. It has good aa very nice guns and good utility.

The only thing that holds the Des Moines back is it’s gun range. It’s probably the best of the CA’s in the game even with it’s pitiful range.

I think a big problem with tech tree heavy cruisers is the “sink [x] cruisers” battle honours that most of them have - if you’re working on that one, you have to hope there are any cruisers on the enemy team in the first place, then you have to sink them before friendly BBs get the chance and before any enemy CAs/BBs find a way to sink you for their own battle honours! It just makes the whole grind through CA lines more irritating than it should be. My only premium CAs are Exeter, London, and Cheshire (all of which I got for free and are some of my favourite ships in the game).

I love Eendracht! It's one of my favorite cruisers especially because people tend to ignore it and you can do whatever you want. It has solid AP and good enough HE to burn down any battleship. My one disagreement is that it doesn't really play like a heavy cruiser. In my opinion, the dutch cruiser line switches to heavy cruisers at Haarlem, not Eendracht.

Yea i missed out on moskva when it was free for a while when it was on the tech tree that is an awesome ship especially with that space camo when they first came out

Oh i was going to ask the buffalo is a des moines class cruiser too right? Oh the French cruiser henri is that a good one slai im grinding to get that one that's why and I have a french zombie commander that I'm working on it rt now

@@darthshabu9262 buffalo is an offensive DM with additional guns and no support skills. Yes the Henry is a solid cruiser at tier 10

@Slai47 thank you slai I will be working on that french cruiser instead im already in tier 7 cruiser. I really like my buffalo but I've noticed the guns are bugged especially with my space camo some times all 12 guns will the ship but sometimes it over shot the enemy ship or the enemy ship will teleport idk man I haven't seen that before but it happen to me 2 days ago I was like what the what?

Very nice review with very valid comments! Answering the heavy cruiser question, I will not mention the usual premiums (Moskva, Stalingrad, Puerto Rico etc) but instead I will stick to Marseille line and specially on Brest the T9 of the line, which according to me humble opinion, is one of the best heavy cruisers on the game! PS. I am trying to convince BobLyn to make a review on her, but he politely refuses, so far!! 😂

My first T10 is actually the Des Moines. Back when the firing range still sub 10km and the reload was half a second slower and no radar. Hate that time, Zao, Hindy, Moskva eat me alive everytime I met them. Now, its just aged like a fine wine. Love that ship.

I bet I’m going to get a lot of backlash for this, but I have so far enjoyed the Riga….don’t have the Petro yet, but like Slai said, “it’s a tier 9 Moskva”, and it’s free. Yes, it has some kinks, but it’s a solid down tiered Moskva that absolutely decimated crusiers and battleship decks. Just watch out for DDs

i don't have many tier ten heavy cruisers but out of the ones I do have I really like Zao and Hindenburg. I have found playing Hindenburg like a kiting battlecruiser really seems to work well for me unless a dd pops out right next to me. I've also found using Hindenburg's torpedoes for defensive purposes or for aggressive pushing seems to work well. I really think Zao is probably the greatest if not the best heavy cruiser out there except for the problem with Zao. The problem I've seen with Zao is the matching making itself and not enough aa. a lot of my games in zao are not great and it's either because teammates weren't there to help or they couldn't hold the other flank and allowed the enemy to flank right behind me or there's a cv in game and ruins my fun from the start but when things align that's when I have some of my best games in Zao.

Finally Slai shows some love to Des Moines!!! Long over due haha I do think that the Russian line is a very close second, only because the DM can absolutely dominate a game, whereas the Russian CAs need help sometimes. Top 5 CAs: Stalingrad, Kronstadt, Moskva, Des Moines, Black Takao.

Russian CAs need items that might not be free to make good. APCS being the only one for free but doesn't fix it. Yeah that list is about right but I would swap out DM for Puerto Rico if we include premium

@@Slai47 that’s fair. I personally enjoy the brawling and maneuverability of DM. Puerto Rico struggles with DDs at times as well

You know if this video came out a 10 days beforehand , I would have ignored the Riga line and had bought the chapayev , but it took me 10 days to re grind for the Chapy now , no harm done I think

@@Slai47,TQ, no loss anyway , I bought the dispersion Mod on T9 Brest (TQ for the suggestion ,i might have gone with Reload time usually) and started Bow tanking (rembered how I played Dunkerque in battle of warships )now I'm getting 3 citadels and 50k+ and 1 kill promised in average team circumstances too , Citadels are so satisfying , got my first 2 citadel crisis in a 7 citadels game , poor Witcheta and NC toh in that game , if I turned the brest around to play better I think I might try petro too with that bear paint

Furthermore, I'll say that Cruisers in general aren't meta because of the vast overabundance of battleships. Nearly every game I play at high tier is exclusively destroyers and battleships and an occasional carrier. I'll be lucky to see another cruiser player in one in five games.

# French Tier 9 Brest Broken Beast Bow tanking battle axe (dispersion) Secondaries sentinal(rear runaway) Citadel Crusher for Cruisers(ap) Breakfast for battleships(sponge) Death sentence for destroyers(he) #how to play Remember this is a Bow tanking French Light fast cruiser with a ridiculous naked Large Hull health pool but Super cruiser gun and rapid reload 3 , This will shine only on Bow tanking , speed blitzing or Speed backing , clever rapid reload popping ,AP and HE choosing and timing and choosing your enemy *Bow point tanking(for Best Dispersion) *Close in knife fighting ( for eating cruiser citadels in favorable circumstances) *1v1 only (ur a Armor less shell magnet , Bow tanking means small target , now corvers citadel) *Aim at Decks for best results( The Shells seem to fall down near the target) *Ranged bow Gunning for battleships(specially German ,) I've got 7 and 5 citadels in few match , crossed 90k in few , Destroyed a t9 German FDG in 1v1 (from a football field away) and also Kraken unleashed

Best CA’s in game. Des Moines/Baltimore, Haarlem, Moskva(although that could be argued as a battlecruiser/large cruiser) Kirov, and Takao/B. Takao. If you wanted to rule out Moskva since it’s guns are larger then 203, CA is 156-210mm I’d say Buffalo

If we included premiums, the Buffalo and Moskva would be some of the best ones there. They technically are heavy cruisers but I would have put them in not a heavy cruiser category just by themselves

@@Slai47 IMO Haarlem is one of the best T8 cruisers. It’s highly underrated. I’d also argue it’s the highlight of the line. It’s the last ship that can do it’s own point defense.

Slai Thank you for the video , Please Do A Video on The MARSEILLE \FRENCH LARGE CRUISER line , please , is it a very good HE spammer , Is it a Close range knife fighting Citadel Eater , or is it a Glass cannon , I'm confused and I'm At tier 9 Brest . I struggle but i still love to play It ,Every think it does good has a knife sticking behind it I want some advice to Play it better , By the Way Today or tomorrow is french Bastille day , Maybe on that Occasion make a French Large Crusier Line advice and should i take the dispersion mod 3 on it or go for Reload mod .My fav T9 heavy is the French Saint Louis ,love it ,grinding for Doskoi

Slai already made a video about Marseille, and apparently, he didn't like it. He even ranked the Marseille as one of the worst cruisers in a video he made of the top best heavy cruisers. Even so, I'm doing his line, I'm at Cherbourg.

I have to disagree about conqueror, it does not have the speed or maneuverability to do cruiser things, and It gets nuked by every other battleship at Tier 10. Raw fire power is the only thing conqueror does well and that's only because of its rapid reload. Conqueror needs more buffs badly and is still by far the worst tier 10 battleship

I agree she needs more buffs but I oddly enjoy her. I find playing her like a brawlly CA also really helps. Let's you really use that damage potential. But that's just me

By definition, Nevsky is not a heavy cruiser. Unfortunately. That means, that due to its utilities, strong AA and extremely fast reload, Des Moines is the best heavy cruiser in the game. Followed closely by Hindenburg and Venezia. I don't play British and French ships, so I can't say anything about Goliath, Marseille and Henry. Maybe they're good or even better than my top 3.

The definition is extremely fuzzy on russian 180s due to how they were built to get around things but yet were clearly acting like heavy cruisers.

@@Slai47 fuzzy in what sense? Heavy cruisers are equipped with 8" or larger cal guns, armor has nothing to with that. 180 mm is just below that (if only a little). Otherwise, Nevsky is a fine "almost heavy" cruiser. Love that ship, too.
