This song was first featured on the studio album "Belafonte on Campus" (1967). It is a cover of "Song for a Winter's Night" by Gordon Lightfoot.

Beautiful rendition of the Gordon Lightfoot classic..Harry brings so much passion and warmth to this slowed down version. Who wouldn’t want to spend a winter’s night by the fire with Harry? Hard to believe that Harry Belafonte and Gordon Lightfoot are both gone in one week’s time. Two legends who will forever be in my heart and whom I’ve loved since I was a kid.

I heard Harry B. on the radio in the late 1960s and 1970s. Today I am 69 years. I like Harry B. very munch. A great singer and wonderful person who has done a lot of good in his life. Thank you very much! 💞

When I was a child perhaps 7 or 8 and my Dad would come home from some far flung corner. He would play this on an old record player we had. He would dance with my mum in the lounge as if I wasn’t there. I think it transported them both back to the Caribbean in some way and helped to recapture their bond as friends and partners. So on long melancholy nights hold someone’s hands, snuggle in and dance on to some far off place. Enjoying a piece of my history
