Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets!
With the first movie as well as the book series being massive international successes, Warner Bros was fast to get to work on adapting the second book in the Harry Potter series: The Chamber of Secrets. What adventures lay ahead for Harry Potter at his death trap of a magical high school?! People were anxious to see it play out on the big screen.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets definitely raises some questions though. Like why would Hogwarts hire Lockhart and why would he accept, knowing full well that he’s a fraud? Was the Whomping Willow really the best thing they could think of to put on school grounds? Why does the car have a mind of its own? Why did Hagrid send children off to speak to man-eating spiders in the most dangerous forest there is? How did Nearly Headless Nick get unpetrified? Is Fawkes the secret star of this movie?!
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Children being able to casually create living beings and then erase them or kill them at a whim would raise some serious moral and ethical questions. In the real world it's the same sort of questions we have about AI and whether they would be property, slaves, or have rights as sapient beings. Another real world equivalent would be cloning. These are things children should not be doing. Adults are barely able to deal with the ethics of these things, and children aren't even remotely mature enough to consider the consequences of creating life and what responsibility they have for that life. Draco casually creates a snake as a weapon with no consideration for its wellbeing, and then Snape casually burns it to ash. It's one of those serious things that Rowling hand waved away. Like the children and other wizards having access to love potions, date rape potions, and being able to brew polyjuice potion to take on the physical form of other children and adults. It's just disturbing.

@@stevendemayo3631 But it does come off as something that lacked a foundation, because like you said, they left the needed material out. Ya can't even be like, "but he heard how kind Harry Potter was" because "from whom would he have heard that and how?" Certainly not from his masters who hate Harry. That doesn't even get into the whole "it's only like the 2nd book, so he doesn't have that many deeds to begin with" part... I've been watching these videos (and from the other channel) that I'm actually starting to see these characters as different people without even thinking about it, anymore. For example, the pitcher and the producer have different smiles. They even have a slight difference in speech cadence. Just like on the other channel, I am starting to see the difference between the executive guy and each of his team members, in the "naming" meetings. Like how they came up with the names for vegetables. It is so weird. Good Job, Ryan for the ability to fool my brain. It's harder to fool linear brains than it is to fool creative brains (the creative ones can play pretend games easier), but you have managed it.

Somehow I never got a notification for this video, just bumped into it while going down the youtube rabbit hole. I'm subscribed, I clicked to get all notifications, and even notifications aside, this video still doesn't even show up in the subscription videos list. Kindoff gets me a bit paranoid over what other videos youtube wont send notifications for.

to be fair they play a sport where large iron balls fly around trying to kill you. If no one managed to die from that, then im pretty sure they don't have enough braincells for blunt force trauma to damage.

1:28 I hate to be THAT person, but in the PS3 Wonderbook game "Book of Spells" it is explained that creatures spontaneously created by magic are not sentient and will vanish within a time period. While creatures created by more skilled wizards can last longer, they will still disappear with time.

So fun fact I recently learned: the reason why Lucius attempts to use Avada Kedavra on Harry at the end of the movie is because Jason Isaacs forgot what spell he was SUPPOSED to use and that was the only one that he could think of off the top of his head 😆

Absolutely amazing pitch meeting, but just one thing that irritates me when somebody brings it up. Lockhart didn't just randomly decide to be a teacher. He did it because Harry was at the school, and he thought teaching Harry Potter could propel his fame even further. The whole house elf clothing thing is a little more complicated than they present it to be in the movies. You have to present a house elf with clothing while having no intention of keeping it. Lucius had no intention to keep the book, so the sock in it was technically clothing that he had no intention of keeping
