The fact Percy is that strong is the exactly the point of banning children being born from the big 3. He's basically a modern day Hercules or Heracles if you wanna be pedantic about it. Harry has no chance, Percy has shown to be able to react to bullets and is likely tankier than Hagrid, most spells are gonna be dodged or tanked easily. I feel like the books are very much a benefit to Percy's character because you're seeing it all in first person. You see all the times he experiences "the worst pain he's ever felt in his life" (I feel like he says that a lot lol) or the general struggles that are harder to see on screen. And there's also the more ridiculous and less conventional solutions that also often have to be changed for on screen purposes. Percy seems op but in the context of the story he's in, he still struggles quite a bit.

I think even Dumbledoor would have little chance against Percy. Percy's reaction speed alone would be enough to run circles around the master wizard considering that Percy has reacted to lightspeed attacks in combat during his fight with the titan Hyperion. Personally, Percy never feels overpowered when you're reading the books. Its really when you look back with hindsight that you notice just how much power he has and that's one of the best parts of the series. You see Percy grow and it feels like a natural progression to me. Yes he has a lot of power but a lot of the situations he's put in require more than brute force so he needs to really think about how he uses his power to save the day and that's what keeps the tension going because a lot of the time, the answer isn't really obvious.

Percy is for sure stronger than Harry, but to call him a gary stu is a bit much. I can't remember even one time he purely overpowered legitimate power houses like gods. He usually outsmarts them. Sure sometimes he has a power up moment but to say he just brute forces everything is either being dishonest, or ya just didn't read the books

This is just my view, but Percy is still a pretty developed character in the books. And while yes he's OP, he still needs to learn some things if he wants to reach to the top. Power alone is dangerous, but power and knowledge is a true monster. And if you're still worried about his character growth, thank Disney Plus for making the Percy Jackson series. The book was a bit limited to show some growth for Percy and other characters, so the show can help expand the world to an audience view rather than hearing it from a first person narrator.

There is no war yet and he is not an overly the top talented wizard (he is good don't get me wrong), but he is not Dumbldoore in his schoolboy time. I think this shows an interesting disparity between wizards and demigods. Wizards have way more power in their arsenal but at the end of the day, they aren't much stronger than your average human. Demigods are significantly stronger than normal humans, even the ones who barely have any powers at least have strength and resistance. It's not just Percy, any demigod with any sort of elemental power is going to beat any average wizard. Percy just has the benefit of being a child of the big 3.

You see Percy Jackson would be on a more even playing field in an area without water with a Harry Potter from between ages 12 and 17. Don't forget that the Harry Potter Year 5 novel mentioned that Professor McGonigal managed to survive 3 jinxing attacks at elderly age, and Harry had taken his share of heavy hits all his life, taking on a Hungarian Horntail or a Basilisk snake in Year 4 make battling a Drakon seem like a Sunday school picnic; but we can all agree that Percy Jackson will win most fights against Harry Potter.

Percy Jackson is not a Gary Stu for one simple reason. While he is very powerful for a demigod, he's a big fish in a small pond. There are plenty of beings inside his universe who could disintegrate him with just a thought. He is nowhere near the power level of the top dogs in PJO. Even a minor god like Nemesis could just turn him into a bug and squish him if she wanted to. Not to mention, other demigods like Jason Grace are close to Percy's power level, even if he is known as the most powerful. A Gary Stu is a character who never struggles, never needs the help of others, is adored, or at least respected by basically everyone, and is the best at everything. This is very clearly not Percy. Percy Jackson struggled immensely throughout the books, was constantly in mortal peril, disliked by a plethora of characters, and needing to rely on his friends to save him on numerous occasions. It's very disingenuous, and frankly lazy, to label Percy as a Gary Stu.

I know Percy is very strong, but Harry has a chance of winning. Let's see how by thinking practically. See, first things first, Harry has ultra-powerful spells. We will see it through many cases. Case 1: If Percy summons a hurricane (which is the highest feat he can perform with water), wouldn't one Protego Maximus do the trick? Before Case 2, I want to clear one thing. Percy can't tank. He survived Egyptian magic only by deflecting it from Riptide, not tanking. And this is HP's magic, which is way more powerful than puny little Egyptian magic. One Expelliarmus will it take to disarm Percy. I know, you guys will say that Riptide will come back to Percy, but, Expelliarmus is also magical and more magical than Riptide. So, Percy disarmed! Case 2: Percy brings Earthquakes and brings waves and all. Ok, firstly, Percy can reflect bullets, but, he can't dodge all of the spells. Also, now he has no Riptide. Also, Percy has not ever produced Earthquakes except in a Volcano which will not be available in most of the cases. Even if it is there, Protego is also there. Also, Harry can fend off water waves and all for some time. Even if you don't accept the Expelliarmus logic to disarm Percy, there is a spell called Brachiabindo! Which will tie Percy's hands with very strong ropes. Meanwhile, Harry will cast an Imperio to control Percy which will simply end the fight. Apart from that, he can cast an Avada Kedavra. Yes, he has never done that but he can do it when needed. So, Percy is dead! This is my great theory. What do you guys say?
