Interesting they considered "Potter" too common of a muggle name and thus they weren't considered as part of the "sacred" families when Black, Abbott, Burke and Flint are on there. 🤷🏻‍♀ But I guess maybe there are just THAT MANY more muggle Potters.

To me, the bigger question is - what happened to Harry's wealth? First story we learn he is really rich, but after that, on multiple occasions it would have been really handy if he had a lot of money ... but the money never seems to appear. Like when his broom was utterly destroyed - now it was replaced, but not by him ... why didn't he just buy himself a new broom? There was nothing to suggest that Harry had much money past us seeing it all and then him spending a bunch on the train going to school that first time ... and then we never seen evidence of his wealth again.

Nothing happened to his wealth, he just wasn’t one to ever display it like most would. In the books it talks about how he didn’t like to show off money especially around the Weasleys

@TheFireMonkey Isn't that just the theme of this whole series? XD But yeah, Harry also just enjoyed the quiet life, as well. He didn't care much for luxury, as he found the Weasly family was very happy and fun to be around, even if they were poor, and conversely found rich kids like Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle to be snobby spoiled pricks.

If i remember correctly no one ever ever really explained to Harry why he was so rich. He was never told about how his ancestors made all that money.

And Harry's aunt & uncle complained of the expense to house the orphaned Harry, had he learned earlier!! At least Hagrid mentioned the wealth in the first book during the Gringotts trip!!

That’s actually super cool that in chamber of secrets, Harry’s used his ancestor’s invention of skele-gro to grow back his bone after Lockhart had accidentally made Harry’s broken arm completely boneless.

I subscribe to what the super Carlin Brothers have theorizes that whoever owns the cloak in their family their family lines just die sooner and also have only 1 family line left. Until Harry becomes the true master of death that it stops.

Oh, I think he was a pretty good potioneer when left to his own devices: i.e. not constantly picked at, belittled and sabotaged. One wonders, with a different teacher, how he would have done in potion making given that his mother was also good at it. He managed an 'Exceeds Expectation' in his Ordinary Wizarding Level exam even though his teacher was constantly giving him D. I think a big part of that was lack of outside interference. Have you ever tried cooking when someone is literally and metaphorically hanging over your shoulder?

He was actually really good when he didn't have Snape as a teacher lol. When left to himself, he actually found it to be really fun and something he really enjoyed, often remarking to himself how great of a teacher Slughorn was, and how when Snape wasn't nipping at him all the time, the subject came easier to him, even without the help of Snape's old book.

We need a theory as to how Mad Eye can see through the cloak. Its supposed to offer "Constant and impenetrable concealment, no matter what spells are cast at it." If death could not see through it, i doubt any wizard could be able to find a way. I can live with Moody seeing through a hexed, charmed, and demiguise cloak, but not the Hallowed cloak. The only thing i can think of is that Dumbledore and Mad Eye were able to break it when it was in Dumbledores possession, but i still doubt it. If Death couldnt break it, i dont think wizards can.

Some fanfics have it that Dumbledore added some runes to the cloak when it was in his possession, or some enchanted threads were sewn in the hem, or some such. (And then Dobby or other house elves check and remove these tracking additions).

No. Though, Sirius did inherit the Black family's fortune as the sole male heir, and in his will to Harry after he died, he left all of that to him on top of what he already had. So after that, maybe they're close lol.

Do you mean if I was never too poor or never too rich, i can not understand some fictional heroes motivations? And if i did not have two dentists parents i have no chance understand a child of two dentists ever? That someone from Japan, Iran or Russia can not enjoy Harry Potter, because it is a British story? This is not how it works, you do not have the heroes to be exactly like you to understand them. I remember reading a book in my childhood about Neardenthal boy and being engrossed and passionate about it, while i was not a boy nor Neanderthal. Normal people do not need to have "someone like them" to identify with the story, it happens only with people who are not quite mentally developed.

I guess there's just that many more with the name Potter lol. Also, there were a few Potters that did flat out marry Muggles, and it takes 3 generations of only hooking up with Pure-bloods to regain that status. So, the list was likely made around the time of the Potters getting with Muggles or Muggle-borns more often.

He was 21 when he died. The films just cast an older guy in his late 20s - early 30s to play him to generally match the visual age range of Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, etc.

@@anshgoel6010And it should be noted that after he gains Kreacher's trust and loyalty in Book 7, he wouldn't really be a "slave" anymore, but rather a butler/maid. You see that after he warms up to them, Kreacher is actually a delight when treated well, often going out of his way to do kind things for Harry and co while they're hiding out.
