I am SO thankful for Story of Seasons continuing where they left off with the 'real Harvest moon games' as you put it, Friends of Mineral Town and Rune factory 5 can't get here soon enough

I feel insulted when I see how natsume is ruining the harvest moon title. It’s like a slap in the face to us long-time fans. I want to know what’s going on in the developers’ minds when making games like these bc it’s ridiculous lol

I do find it really funny that they're trying to "get rich quick" off the Harvest moon name but refuse to put in any effort. I mean Friends of Mineral Town, one of if not THE best Harvest moon game is getting a pretty fantastic looking remake and this is their response. It's actually really funny

If Natsume started caring, the first thing they’d do is stop using the name Harvest Moon. They don’t have to hand over the rights, but they have to stop trying to trick people into thinking this is the same series. I’ve explained that Story of Seasons is that series to several people this week. They all thought Natsume was still publishing it, not creating their own games. They bank on that because they don’t care.

Honestly the trailer looks like it is missing lighting and shadowing. It looks half as*ed and super flat.

I don’t even try anymore when it comes to their so called, “harvest moon.” Once I knew they only owned the name & story of seasons was the legit one, I immediately jumped ship!! I tried out light of hope just to see & it was garbage to me & sold it(mind u, I don’t sell my games unless I find them to be absolute trash or a disgrace to my collection). I’ve been playing harvest moon games since I was 11 & now I’m 25 so even having that in my house with the label harvest moon..... I couldn’t deal lol I know I’m being harsh but it was just that bad to me. I’m excited for friends of mineral town & Rune factory 5 though & I love your channel!!

I am just amazed they still make money off these games? I mean, at this point anyone who liked the real Harvest Moon must have noticed how bad the new ones by Natsume are so who is buying them? They are just so bad, I mean they keep reusing the same handful of characters for EVERY SINGLE GAME?!

When I first saw the trailer I was like " oh they must still be in alpha"....then I saw that it was slated for fall. All hope lost after that.

They worked on the localization of the original games for so long, you think SOMETHING would have stuck with them.

Honestly, Harvest Moon: Animal Parade is one of the best games EVER. Yes, the walking is long, but the design is beautiful.

I hadn’t heard about One World, so when the trailer popped up in my recommended I had no context for it specifically. What’s wild, is that as I was watching the trailer, my honest response was, “oh okay, someone’s making a fan game.”

Boy you're one of the very few Yters who talk about HM and SoS at all...🤭 I never even spared the Natsume HM a glance, I knew about the split quite early so I never even bothered to look at 'em. The concept for One World is interesting but the execution...welp, we still got Friends of Mineral Town!

Rune factory is actually really good , loved the entire series

I feel like they could have done so much more with their half. You know what would have been cool? I Natsume kept the thrown away "Innocent life" concept, and made a great sidealong to Rune factory with an scientific and exploration based farm simulator. I loved innocent life, it was such a great game, and it would have been cool if they had recognized that and gone " hey..... you're not doing anything with this, can we have it?"

I remember watching the trailer and saying out loud “this looks flat”. Their visuals is very uninspired and generic. With the upcoming SOS game, it is clear that they are paying tribute to the old mineral town games with their visuals and then build on top of that. I think I’m going to pass on Natsume’s version.

I can't get over it how bad their games looks. And i can't insult it and say that looks like only one person made it because that would be an insult to Stardew Valley. It looks like a school project and even that is saying much. And i think it is hilarious how many people said back at the direct Rune Factory 4 looked ugly. Ngl, Lost Valley actually had me sold because of the minecraft terraforming feature, but they gave up on it. And lo and behold, Animal Crossing got Terraforming done right and it made all the success for them.

Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life is the superior HM title of all time. I would kill for an updated version of that storyline with new characters and a very similar vibe. It’s the only one I’ve ever gone back to and played.

It reminds me of Pumkin Day on Steam. I don´t know what to think of this... we will see if they try to do better XD But thanks for the update! and thanks for the funny and good video!

All I want is a Harvest Moon N64 remake and my dreams would all come true

I’ll probably end up getting this game out of curiosity, and because I do want to give it a chance, but honestly, if I didn’t know anything about farming sims and I saw this game I wouldn’t even bother because it looks like they didn’t put much care into world building or details. Just by adding simple dirt paths across the grass or in the pen with the animals, or a plaza between the buildings it could have added just enough to make the game feel.. fuller? And I know graphics don’t mean everything, I just can’t help but worry that if they didn’t bother to fill out their “world” -which considering the game title emphasizes exploring their world- then how can the story and characters be any better?

This issue literally makes my blood boil. It hurts me so much whenever I encounter fans who do not know about the split and that Story of Seasons is the true Harvest Moon of our childhood. I feel that is a huge part of the reason why they put out a remake of Friends of Mineral Town, to bring awareness to the fact that they are the original series! I hope more people wake up and stop spending money on Natsume's trash.

I love how I still saw some people not understand the split when the game was announced, but then the trailer dropped and it was like "OH, I see what is wrong now"

More and more people are learning the truth about what Natsume's Harvest Moon is, and so less and less people are fooled into purchasing this nostalgia bait.

I've loved Harvest Moon since I watched my mom play Back to Nature!!! I am currently playing the new SoS Friends of Mineral Town! Brings back many nostalgic memories for sure.

Last Harvest Moon I really enjoyed was Animal Parade. I'm not sure if others enjoyed it but its the last HM I played and loved.

I know that's not the topic here, but it really warmed my heart to hear you mention The Tale of Two Towns, it's my absolute favorite from all harvest moon games but I don't know a single person who knows it, at least not in my country Which sucks, because it means that I've never got to use any of the multiplayer features for it or the street pass features and I have no one to talk about it ;-; so I pretty much enjoy the game all by myself Also: Cam is best boy

I think the appeal of character models in "A Wonderful Life" comes from their short limbs and exaggerated shoes. They look cartoony without looking too weird. Okay, they still look weird in overhead view, and that's why they go with a more modern camera.

I am really happy to hear im not the only one who kinda preferred the older/more grown models from AWL and AnWL -- AnWL and MM are by far my favs (and SOS:FOMT is super great!) but i do miss the classic feel/real feel of the older games:')

I gave up after the games where they attempted to do terraforming as I am not a fan of the box like style of graphics and it was just way too annoying, slow and didn’t really make me want to explore anything. So, at least the graphics are better then that. As for old faces, the characters they are trying to pass as “familiar” are probably from those games. I haven’t really checked the trailer as I gave up on Harvest Moon but I do hope that when they say this they aren’t just recycling the characters from the previous games with a few new additions. That was another issue I had was how often Natsume, and even Story of Seasons, would recycle old characters at times instead of doing new characters for a new town. The only exception to this was Animal Parade and I could easily get pass such things in ways similar to when old characters just visit towns. Although, something I wish Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons would do is let our character visit old towns, that would be fun

As soon as I saw the grass when I first watched the trailer, I was so disappointed. It's almost they didn't care, I mean didn't anybody in the team making this, when they first reviewed it before launching, that it seemed lacking? Sigh... Natsume did not disappoint me in disappointing me.

One World looks like crap. It looks like a trailer that still has a year or more of development left! It does not look like a trailer for a game coming out in just a few months!

I was interested in the premise of this Harvest Moon game, even though I’ve never touched them since the switch to Story of Seasons. This game is... it looks horrible. Hero of Leaf Valley is one of my favorite games and I think it’s a shame it was PSP only, but... One World doesn’t even just look watered down. I feel like I’m staring at some weird merging between Harvest Moon 64 and Save the Homeland. There’s no texture. It makes me cringe. I feel sorry for the marketing team having to sell this.

Hero of Leaf Valley is one of the best Harvest Moon games out there ngl.. It looks damn good for a 2009 game

Oh god, I thought the grass looked bad, but the snow! It looks like they just took a blank white canvas and put in a bunch of random blurry shadows, and called it a day. This isn't how snow looks. As someone who is currently living in a snowy area, I can guarantee that this does not look like snow. It looks like someone made a snow texture, and but it didn't load in correctly, and is doing that Borderlands thing where it's just blurry for awhile before it's properly loaded in.

I love all Harvest Moon games xD I get excited easily, I know.

I really home natsume takes the fan feedback from the trailer and takes a bit of time to tweak and fix the visual issues.

Harvest moon animal parade is still my personal favorite and for me the best. Cute charater- a bit in-between the designs . Same with the animals . Seasons and different crops for seasons. Excellent friendship+dating stories.... its sad to see how its fallen

All very valid points. I agree wholeheartedly. I never meet any HM fans but to hear you say everything I’ve thought about these games.. I don’t feel so alone about it now. Super glad that HM FoMT at least looks pretty amazing.

Natsume is pumping out these games so quickly and the small amount of effort put into these games really makes it seem like a cash grab. Their first game with the "Minecraft mechanics" of terraforming and stuff was at least interesting. Now these games are just extremely shallow versions of Marvelous' games. I've yet to touch any Harvest Moon game made by Natsume. It makes me wonder who they're targeting with these games.

As a longtime fan of the series since the gamecube, I wish I could work for these companies and help design the art

You know you would really think with Marvelous being like “You know some people might not know that Natsume’s Harvest Moon games aren’t like the ones we made so let’s remake one of the best games we made so then more people switch over to us.” That it would make Natsume realize they can’t put out dogshit titles anymore and get away with being cash grabbers and try to make a good looking game but nope they continue to try to still shit all over us...

I’m probably not going to play it. I’m more excited for story of seasons and the new harvest moon kind of looks like a quick build of a game someone made to go along with a creepy pasta or something like Ben drowned.

I think natsume should have tossed the name and made their own name. Its was a short play because now anytime they put anything out people are constantly telling them they're frauds, etc basically its a lot of "Your not my real dad" energy lmao. They could do better visually and I hope they improve.

My all time favorite version of harvest moon was on the original PlayStation, but it hardly ever gets any credit! I liked it because it felt like an upgrade of Harvest Moon 64, the game I played the most because I didn’t have own a PlayStation, lol. 💖🐓 🐑 🐮

I stopped paying attention after the lost valley. Its always been clear that Natsume doesn't care about making good games, just making as many games as possible. Honestly I worry for the people who have to do the actual work on these games! I dont intend to play this game ever, but I'm glad they are working with a new engine. Hopefully they will try to make a better game after this. They can't expect to turn profit on the name alone, especially when they have other farming sims to compete against.

They are improving. I think I will enjoy it. I am preording it the characters look interesting. They haven't become charming like story of seasons. But it finally getting better they just need time to fail hard core.

Thinking about it now, maybe we've been expecting too much from them? At this point I guess they're just desperately trying to make the "Harvest Moon" IP stay relevant. I would even say that they are probably at the same level as an indie game developer, seeing how their games look and play like. They are trying to compete with the OG Story of Seasons and make a similar game and continue the IP they got from them, setting the bar too high for their current capabilities. Had they taken a step back and look at how those successful indie farming sim games does it, maybe they'll do the IP they have more justice. At this point, it would probably be better for them to make a new identity for their "Harvest Moon" and stop trying to be another Story of Seasons. They're just putting themselves on a hard spot by trying to be the OG they'll never be.

Honestly, I'm holding out hope for it. At least they're changing *something* from their previous games. And, to be fully honest, I don't hate HM:STV or even HM:LoH. I'm not saying they're good by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed them for what they're worth. And I enjoyed the terraforming mechanic in STV (not sure why they took it out of LoH?) as it was something I'd never seen before in a HM game. I got into the HM/SoS series quite late, my first game being ANB, and I've stuck with it ever since. When I found out about the switch, I wasn't too concerned with it because I was happy the original developers were getting out and doing their own thing while Natsume could try their hand at making a farming sim game on their own. I honestly don't even mind the cartoonish sprites and movements since I personally love cartoonish/anime styled things so it's all ok in my book. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. TL;DR I'm 98.5% probably gonna give this a chance because, while I didn't hate their previous games, I'm hoping they can greatly improve. Not only that, but using the same characters for, like, 3-4 games in a row is kinda annoying... (As much as I love Edmond and Gareth, I'd love to see new faces too. ;-; ) PS: Hopefully they take a page out of SoS' book and allow gay marriage at least. Playing a girl as a trans man is not the funnest thing in the world... (Also, for the record, I'm a pretty low-demanding person. So long as a game looks decent (in my book) and the gameplay isn't absolutely undoable then I'm generally fine with most things if you couldn't tell hahaha...)
