I really like all the mechanics you mentioned and the fact that there are so many diverse areas to explore, but the open world looks so empty. Where is the wildlife? Where are the bugs? Where are the plants/flowers? It just looks so bland...

Honestly i'm surprised it seems that this Harvest Moon it's at least trying a little. As much as i know Story of Seasons is the good one, i kinda hope Harvest Moon at least tries a little

From what you explained, It seems that they are taking aspects from other games and melding them into one, which is usually a good idea! It means they are researching and hearing what their audience would like. It might make to be a pretty interesting game, with a different kind of gameplay for a farming RPG! I also think that adding different environments where you can grow different crops would also be good, similar to the ruins in Rune factory. I think another direction they can go would be to add buffs to certain foods that might grow in a better environments, helping if grown in the right environment or even cause certain crops to decay or take longer to grow if grown out of its natural environment. It would allow the player to test certain crops, allowing more efficient growth of hybrid plants, and adds an extra layer of a challenge to attain the best crops.

Wow, this is actually really ambitious! I really hope they're able to pull all of their ideas off well, because I'd love to have 2 new and different-feeling farming sims to play. I like that Harvest Moon is starting to go in its own direction, I hope that it keeps experimenting like this.

There are a lot of interesting ideas here but looking at it doesn’t immediately make me excited to explore. It looks like a lot of blank space. Go around a bend and find more blank space. I don’t know. Listening to you describe the concepts and mechanics makes me interested but actually seeing what has been shown does not. I guess I’ll just have to see when it comes out.

wtf i had to stop and think if this was still one world we are talking about. dam they really went to work. they just need a bit more cosmetic things around the areas to add more "soul" to the overworld. then we have an interesting game. everything sounds good so far.

I'm really glad they are trying out new things to reclaim Harvest Moon rather than just trying to copy Story of Seasons. I just hope they take the feedback they will get on the chin because the quality of the animations still looks like it belongs on an older system. The world still looks so lifeless, which is bad for a game that is focussing on exploring the world.

This is interesting because on one hand I would love to have Harvest Moon get to a point where it's as good as Story of Seasons, that way we can have both games to look forward to and have more farming overall, but on the other hand it's Natsume soooo I don't know. lol

Seems I might be little against the grain here, but I actually really like the visual style of this game. Sure the ground is a little lack-luster, but I was taken aback by how cute the characters are! I despised the kind of bobbleheaded look they had in Lost Valley and Skytree Village, and it got better with Light of Hope, but they really took a step up here. Malika and Ahina are adorable and the models of the plants and farm animals look great. Along with the new areas, mechanics, mutations, and overall changes, I'm legitimately excited to get my hands on this

I'm honestly pretty hyped for this!, the exploration actually looks pretty interesting, and I do look forward to move my farm around and discover everything the game offers. Definitely an upgrade compared to the last one, and the character actually look pretty cute too!

All these updates since the first trailer are very interesting! Though, I have to admit, some of them seem pretty overwhelming (like the pocket farm, stamina drain depending on weather, etc). Would need some time to get used to. And like others have said, the world does seem a bit static, I hope we'll get to see more animals running around and people living their lives later on.

Looks like they took the fan critics. The graphics look a lot better. I pre-ordered it and the story of seasons. I think the exploration is a cool thing. I think this game is a step in the right direction from the last games.

I think that crop mutations is one of the best ideas that Natsume came up with for their brand of Harvest Moon. Watching the farming it seems as if the player can only farm on the predetermined spots that are already plowed and I am not a huge fan of that aspect. I would perfer if they did it like Animal Parade where it is a plot of land and not boxes. I will not buy Harvest Moon One World (At least right now) because Rune Factory 5 and Story of Seasons PoOT will satisfy my farming urges for this year but I can appreciate that they put more effort into this one than Light of Hope.

Anyone notice the Harvest Whisps look kinda like the Harvest Sprites from Animal Parade? I could have sworn I saw Finn’s hat. The game seems interesting but at the same time I’m still worried. Guess I’ll have to wait & see.

Seems like Harvest Moon is going the Breath of the Wild route and Story of Seasons is kinda going the Animal Crossing route with all the crafting and monthly game expansions. Absolutely gonna play both! I've already pre-ordered PoOt, so it's kinda odd One World isn't in the eShop yet since it's coming out sooner.

Honestly if they put more effort into the textures for the world and the character models then this wouldn't actually look half bad. I think before the mechanics come in the biggest problem is that it still has some of those lingering mobile game looks to it. At least it feels like they're starting to care about what they're doing? hope they keep it up!

I think there are potentially some really interesting concepts here. Like you said it depends on how well those concepts are implemented. Sadly, for me, the world still seems so barren and lacking in any real personality. I'll wait to see a few reviews after release before picking this up I think

I was watching the trailer and was like I need to see your video about it! When the trailer for the new story of seasons dropped I did pre order a copy right away because "the original HM" always delivers a good game. With the first trailer of one world I was like.. hmm yeah I felt they did put more effort into it then light of hope lol. I waited for another trailer but I think I will get one world now.. but time will tell if it is good lol. Also rune factory is coming enough farming games for the year! (And maybe some awsome indie farming game?)

Everything you mentioned in the video seems super interesting! I definitely still feel hesitant to give harvest moon another chance, but I'm much more open to giving it a chance than before. I'll probably still wait for other people to try it out first though ^^;

As a diehard fan of the franchise, this is this first "new" Harvest Moon I've actually been interested in playing, and I'm SO glad it looks better than now than it did in the original trailer. Hopefully it's not another letdown! 🤞

I hope that the final game has more detailed environments than the build shown to us. The artstyle reminds me of Tree of Tranquility and Animal Parade, and those games included grass and flowers on the ground for aesthetic purposes. Made the game seem more alive and vibrant.

I'm not fond of the way you get seeds. I'm not sure if I want to try this one. I am gonna wait until I see some reviews, and probable some gameplay videos.

For someone who was used to organization... Finding random seeds means my plots will look 2 onions, a potato, a cabage (only example of course) as opposed to my clean 3*3... Another thing I noticed. Time is moving indoors in the stable... Unless this was covered already. I'm new here hahaha

I played an indie farming sim called Pumpkin Days that had these exact mechanics (three diverse areas with crops unique to each area, fast travel). The main difference was that you could buy plots of land in each town instead of moving your farm. My thoughts so far: the character models alone raise my estimation of the game A LOT. I hated the mii look the other games had and this one definitely upgraded that. The mechanics seem like a "we'll see" kind of scenario. It could be either really neat or really obnoxious having to find all my seeds from sprites.

I will be buying it, my thoughts are that I will play the game as its written. I see a game , my choice to buy it or not. If I buy it, no complaining! Play it for what it is. Enjoy the differences . All I see as far as comments on this board are a bunch of gamers who have not given One World a chance. I dont expect to enjoy it as much as Story of the Seasons, but im willing to take a look. I find the character models and dialogue animations adorable. As for the dirt and grass texture. I don't pay attention to that stuff anyways so I honestly do not care how it looks lol. It's all about the gameplay. It's why I have plans to get both this and PoOT. One World to play around with crop mutations, seed scavenger hunts, and the hilarity of moving your entire farm to new areas and PoOT for that classic farming formula.

Well, i have to admit, their ideas do have potential, but I doubt they can handle it. I also think they should stick with a "less 3D graphic style", because they don't seem to have qualified people for this (some models look fine, but most if it... meh). The idea of an open world is nice, but it looks way to plain, there's nothing expect green floor and some copi&paste patch of grass, which doesn't make me want to explore something like this.

These are some very interesting concepts to try out. I am surprised at the growth of the game since the first trailer. I will definitely buy this game and try it out but it won't be something I buy full price. It's something I don't mind waiting for and picking up when I see it for under $20.

Wow! This is surprising! Harvest Moon is putting in the bare minimum effort at innovation for the first time since the split!

The minute by minute clock kind of stresses me out lol I prefer when time moves in intervals of 10min or so.

Watching the in game clock go that quick gave me the worst anxiety lol.

Yaay, I was hoping for more info because I surprisingly liked the character design (even tho I dissed the game at first glance for obv reason - the models, the world itself) but yes, I agree with most comments here since I've seen the trailer and I do love the idea, the world look so...gloomy :/ rocks, trees, weeds/grass....Like...It still doesn't give me enough reason to buy it T_T (But hrrn, the character designs is so cute!) -Also doesn't the festivals and weathers sound like Trio of Town-

I really don't trust Natsume with the 'Harvest Moon' games. Looks fine but I think I'm going to wait for Pioneers of Olive town.

I remember I had left a long comment on their initial trailer, mentioning all the issues I had with the visuals, and although comments were disabled on that video shortly after, it almost feels like someone at the studio had seen it, along with all the other complaints people had, since all my gripes seem to be adressed in the footage you used; The grass/sand/snow seem to have gotten a bit of texture to it, the grass is no longer over-saturated, they added paths for variety and navigation puproses, the towns/buildings in towns look more 'set in' due to shadows/ground texture under and around them, as opposed to looking like they had just been plonked down on a random grass patch in the world. The cow no longer looks like it's gliding and dare I say they changed the model of the cow a little to make it cuter and less lifeless? I'm on mobile atm, so maybe I'm just seeing things, but it did seem a bit cuter. I wonder if all these changes were already planned to happen, or if they took feedback from the community? Since I was far from alone in having issues with the visuals, It'd be kinda nice to know they're willing to listen and improve... As for their mechanics; they're a nice idea, not going to lie. It'd deffinately be a different experience from SoS games, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic and refrain from buying this on day 1 until reviews come out. Ideas are nice individually, but how is it all balanced together? How's the synnergy between the mechanics? Hopefully none of them conflict with each other? How fun/tedious will it be to follow along with these mechanics? I have a hunch that you probably won't be able to plant crops in an area unless your farm is there, encouraging you to move your farm a lot, which is fair enough, but I personally wouldn't want to move my farm around all that much after the novelty wears off and just would want to settle in somewhere, but in order to get mutations and stuff, I'd be forced to move it around, which would be mildly tedious, if this would be the case with this mechanic. Worries aside, thank you again for another nice video! Always love hearing any and all news about farming games! 💜

I think I'll wait until others play it. One of the concerns I have is the mechanics, I agree it depends on how the rest of the mechanics are executed. There have been past Story of Season titles (when it was Harvest Moon) that I found overwhelming because the map was too big coupled by farming mechanics that always made me feel like I was running out of time to get from one point to another. That would really be my concern about this, but it can be done well since Rune Factory does have a large world too and farming and then going out on adventure isn't too hairy.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm genuinely interested in this game, have been since the announcement. I've known about some of the new mechanics already, interested in what else the "machine" can do (the button designs are cute and colorful). I will be getting this game and the new SOS when they are released.

Fast travel is really a first for harvest moon/story of season but its normal for rune factory that game have fighting monster to distract you and lots of dungeon so fast travel is recommended but in harvest moon series and story of season its usually just a small map thats why it dont have fast travel and just have save anywhere function but looks like this would be a huge game if transporting farm, different season and festival each town is part of it like a bigger story of season trio town. I would totally want fast travel if its like that

I've already preordered Story of seasons pioneers of olive town and think it is overall better than one world and as of now am not impressed enough to get one world. But I will admit there are a few things in one world that are rather interesting if done well.

I think this game looks better and better overtime. I hope they can make the ground looks abit more realistic by adding some more rock grass or flowers. Now i thinknthe world itself looks so empty to me.but anything else looks acceptable now.

The harvest wisps thing looks like it'll encourage you to explore more, but I'm worried it'll feel like you have to grind for a while just to start farming in a farming sim, especially with how plain the world looks. It does look better than other natsume harvest moons though so maybe it'll turn out promising. I do like that you can keep the wild animals though

It's really nice to see that Natsume is trying out some new mechanics and features to be different from SoS. Actually, I'm really excited to see how they will execute those. Nevertheless, I will not buy the game myself, because I'm still put off by the graphics. What we have seen of the game so far still looks like it is a game for the PlayStation 2 or a really old PC game. Hopefully, Natsume will keep working on that and improve their games visually. Give the surrounding nature more texture to make it look less... lifeless and more 3-dimensional. Put some wildlife in there. A few critters, flowers etc.

I have to say they made an effort on how to improve it and what would make it more interesting, but still... with what they have presented so far even with the added mechanics it's not enough to make you want to buy it. The reason a game is even engaging and worth playing is how much the creators are able to make it immersive for the player. But the videos they released for the gameplay doesn't even make it feel immersive... it still feels barren and dull.

I'm not a big fan of the 3d models when talking to characters. I like the drawn portraits style. rune factory 4 has some of my favorites.

The idea of it being semi-open world isn’t bad, but my biggest fear with any open world game is the world’s liveliness. Open world exploration means nothing if the world is empty, you know?

I'm still way more excited about Pioneers of olive town but there's no rule that says I can't buy both and at least give the game a chance. The trailers for HM just failed to get me excited but SOS isn't releasing until the 23rd and this game will be out on the 2nd so im gonna pick this up to keep me busy until sos. I am hesitant to pay $50/$60 for it though 😰. (I'm definitely buying physical copies now because I have 2 switches and Nintendo is a hoe about different profiles playing games. Whose got it the cheapest in US?) Im kinda iffy about some of their mechanics like moving your farm but who knows maybe it will be cool. It wouldn't be the first time I fell in love with something I thought I'd hate at first glance. It looks a bit better in newer trailers and I think their PR team just didn't do a good job hyping it up. I just want really good relationship/friendship building and dialog. The lack of it in animal crossing made me lose interest and fomt is better but they too need some improvement in that department. I'm not rooting for either to fail regardless of their history with eachother. It would only be to my benefit if they both produced great games. I don't like the art style as much but I understand they're carving their own identity out now. Fingers crossed we end up with two unique and enjoyable games.

The idea of the game is great on paper it is the execution i am worried about. For me there isn't a lot of faith left in natsume and their harvest moon games. That and how it looks. Story of seasons isn't a very pretty HM game in my opinion too but this looks like a free browsergame. It looks better than before and better than their previous harvest moon games but it still looks ugly and boring. A lot of copy paste textures and the world is so empty. You could make an more interesting looking game in an rpg maker yourself. But i like the character design for the ingame cutscenes. They look cute.

i wasn't planning on getting this game originally with how unreliable natsume has been with this series in the past, but now i'm actually really hoping it'll be good so i can! i adore the concepts for this game, and the models look really pretty too! i'm still very tentative though and definitely will reserve my judgement until after the game is released. i hope that this game will actually be good-so far with the concepts presented (provided that they work well), the only thing that's lacking is just how bland the areas still are, imo

I see a lot of people complaining about the graphics but to be fair, a lot of games use this engine. I'm not a fan of the smooth empty look in any game but I'm willing to give this a try. They are upping the level of things you can do for sure. It reminds me of Trio of Towns with the different communities. And you can get used to any graphics after awhile. I don't look at any game that is years in development as a "cash grab”. I'm sure they spent a ton of money to make it whether it turns out it not.
