I would have threw out my parents

My parents did this. They would secretly toss any toys they thought I didn’t either play with or care about much any more. One of my absolute favorite toys I ever had in my life was my collection of Exo-Squad figures. My folks got rid of them when I was away for a weekend and when I got home, it took only about an hour or so to realize my favorite toys were gone. At first, I gave my mom the benefit of the doubt and thought they were relocated (my mom has EXTREME OCD and is constantly cleaning and rearranging every last inch of our home) and just let it go until the next morning. So come morning, I asked where my favorite toys were, making sure to EMPHASIZE the word favorite to really convey that these were special to me in case she was busy and wouldn’t want to show me until later. But as soon as I was done asking, her expression gave me my answer... All I can say is that my response has resulted in her having NEVER again tossing anything of mine without consulting me first. To this day, I’m still upset and always trying to find replacements, but I have yet to find either good quality, no missing accessories loose versions or a in package version that don’t kill my wallet. They just don’t pop up bc I think others that still have theirs don’t want to part with them.

@@kidwajagstang I'm so sorry she did that, that's awful! I was born in 1982, and my mom NEVER did that to me because her mom growing up in the 60's threw out all of her toys when she was away, and she hasn't been able to replace them :(. When I was a kid she told me about her mom doing that to her, and that she'd never do that to me. If she saw I wasn't playing with certain things she'd ask me, I'm thankful for that. I hope you find what you're trying to replace! I suggest doing an eBay search and saving the search, it will give you email notifications if someone lists the stuff, I was able to get some rare stuff this way :). Also check etsy, ebluejay, and mercari (on mercari make sure you check the "for sale" box , otherwise listings that have already sold will keep coming up).

@@angelapileggi6031 yeah, I go there periodically to check. It’s just lousy the prices many get listed at. Especially the harder to find figures that were extremely difficult to find in a pre-Internet world. Finding complete versions of my favorite pieces, even loose, definitely reflects the difficulty of finding those characters. They were the first toys I ever had where they were super detailed and it was obvious they paid attention to the show. The actual figures were smaller than GI Joe’s and in the show, the characters connected to their mech suits with a tiny cable that connected to a port in the back of the neck (brainstem) and the mechs had this cable and the figures had the port. It was a detail that didn’t really need to be there, but they did it anyway. There were also moving “hydrologic” pistons on the mech’s elbows, knees, ankles, etc which really lended a real world design element that made me believe this could be a real life technology one day. The show and toys really sparked my imagination. It was also the first show I ever watched that wasn’t corny like ghostbusters or he-man, but had true consequences and the “bad guys” could win, but the antagonists were completely justified and understandable in their actions. It was my introduction to the world not actually being presented as truly black and white. The “bad guys” have their own reasons that make sense and believe themselves as doing what is right. The so called “good guys” will also do very bad things because they believe it serves the “greater good” and this show introduced me to this concept. Everything about the show was FAR ahead of its time and it sucks how difficult it is to find episodes of this show considering the current internet. Thanks for the reply and suggestions. I really hope that I will one day have my collection back. One thing that truly hurt too was that back then, those toys were between $10-20 in the late 80’s!! I don’t even want to think about how much i spent on my collection that was tossed out in a matter of minutes.. (oh, also an 82 baby. August)

Are you referring to the Ecto-1A that released with Ghostbusters 2? I had the original Ecto 1 and it was fairly simple in it’s color scheme and definitely didn’t have any electronic RGB elements, so I’m just confused about what you mean when you mention a “classic RGB Ecto-1. (To clarify, I’m only aware of the acronym RGB to mean Red Green Blue in reference to color changing systems in lights, if it has another use or meaning, I’m not aware of it)

Yep! I just went and looked all over my city for a set and they were sold out everywhere! Ebay has them for like 30 each. It's crazy and I hate scalpers. I did manage to find one working PKE meter though.

@Bob Cook Congrats! I caved a month or so ago and bought them on eBay because our Walmart never had them. 75+20 shipping which wasn't that bad compared to most other listings. More than I wanted to pay but it was at least not 150+.

No. It was merely a license & distribution stuff up by Hasbro. The original wave in the US will be worth the most (rare) as they contain the "Who you gonna call?" on the top left cardback.

Did your figures arrive yet?? All I can suggest if you haven't is to try & track them down in-store at as many Walmarts as you can. As I think there is a strong possibility your pre-order will be cancelled due to unavailable stock. Walmart is a joke for pre-orders & the sooner they go bankrupt, the better for all toy collectors.

Marty McFly They arrived alright! All damaged on international card backs and with paint defects. And I was charged 4 times for the one order!! I completely agree with you that Walmart should go bankrupt, but before they do, they should compensate every collector for all this hassle and the damaged products.

I always thought he looked like the voice actor Frank Welker. You can really see it in the animation.
