Hatching EVERY Shiny Starter! - Pokemon Emerald & FireRed

The Hoenn Starter trio completed!
Treecko shined after 1,684 eggs
Torchic shined after 776 eggs
Mudkip shined after 6,032 eggs
Average = 2,831 (very nice!)
I opted to hunt these final starters for my Gen 3 Living Dex via eggs as I really wanted to make them special. I thought about hunting them as starters in Emerald but I would have been annoyed with an early shiny frame Zigzagoon and how to approach resetting. I don't think it would have sat right with me if I had then reset for a starter.
I really enjoyed hunting this method and I will do plenty of this style of hunting in the future.

Congrats, the Hoenn starters are really cool shinies! I played gen 3 for the first time in 2020 and I actually didn't know that nicknames are called "Kosenamen" in Gen 3. From Gen 4 onwards the german games simply refer to them as "Spitznamen". Good luck learning German :)

Seeing mudkip in FRLG with that blue border feels weird. I’ve hatched more Farfetch’d in my Leafgreen that all those combined sadly, the egg gods hate me. I have just the one Leafgreen doing the hunt, and after 9 months, I’m at 18k, but I ain’t giving up until I have that pink duck.

Good luck man. I have never hatched a shiny from an egg too. I gave up on my mimikyu hunt with over 450 eggs on ultra moon. I know it's not a lot in terms of shiny hunting. But I got a shiny feebas via sos and kyogre with soft resets which I enjoy seeing on pokemon violet :) So good luck again on your hunt

Do you have any advice for getting a feel for how long to walk the eggs? Feels like it'd be easy to accidentally hatch them. Congratulations on the trio!!! Looking forward to seeing what the Johto trio's egg moves are. 🤭

He didn't come up with it. It's been used for a long time. Shiny Hunter Josh used it a lot, though his channel is deleted now sadly. It's pretty cool.

If after I hatch all the eggs and none of them are shiny, is it better to make a full batch of eggs or restart the save files of the other cartriges?? Not sure I understand the process, but does it work like the manaphy egg?

Naive is actually better I think for blaziken in gen 3 since it's a mixed attacker which is nice

Honestly scared to hunt in gen 3. Last year I got a shiny Mudkip after only 500~ SR's in Ruby and I think it's used up my luck for the decade.

A buddy of mine saw this video and said my copy of Box would go up in price again because of shiny hunters XD. Pokemon Box is definitely the crown jewel of my collection, but I think it's a terrible thing that it isn't more accessible. Thankfully it's very easy to get working on a modded Wii. So long as your modded wii is backwards compatible and you have a GBA to GC link cable, you'd be able to replicate this setup no problem! Congrats on the shinys and well done! Great video!

Are there any gender differences in Gen 3 apart from torchic. Because I realised that gender differences were introduced in Gen 4. But Yorchic had the spot on it
