The advice to start with lightweight skincare to get a skin like makeup finish is actually game-changing. We're told how important moisturizing is before makeup, but we forget there are different (and arguably better) ways to moisturize aside from going in with a heavy cream. I already use several thin layers of hydrating toner/essence and pretty light sunscreens, but hearing you clearly state to use light layers was helpful.

Light skincare is the KEY to light makeup. I have oily skin and if I go wild and decide to use a heavier sunscreen or moisturizer, even the lightest makeup feels like a mask.

The Isehan mascara is easy to remove with warm water. I use a wet washcloth and press it to the lashes and then gently remove the mascara.

I use a thin primer when I wear a tinted moisturizer. Makeup Geek has a thin liquid primer that turns matte. I know they're going out of business. There is also one called No Pore Blem that does the same thing. I also like to wear sunscreen spray when I wear sunscreen, and I want a thin makeup look. Pacifica has one that is a sunscreen spray and a setting spray.

Oooh, I need to give that foundation a try! I may have missed it but, what shade are you wearing? I used the 1970's version of that Clinique bronzing gel way back in the day, along with the gel blushes...great products.

You gave me deja vu/olfactory flashbacks with that Clinique bronzer gel - I used something like that in the 80s. You have me excited to try all the liquid shadows. I couldn't take the Tower 28 mascara because it flaked really badly (looked great at first). I like the Ere Perez Avocado Waterproof for fluffy but light feeling lashes that don't flake. Also, for very light feeling coverage I like Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals - feels like nothing on but the effect is almost like healthy child's skin. Can not wait for my Stylevana order to arrive, so many exciting lip products - please get more/do more with stuff from Stylevana! I've had the Watery Sun gel for a year now, it is nice but maybe a little too shiny in the summer - healthy illumination vs greasy is a fine line. I have other sunscreens coming from Stylevana, and look forward to finding the right balance for well under $30/tube of something I need to use generously every day. This was so informative & refreshing, thank you!

Powder adding insult to injury to some complexions is me. That's my complexion. I have tried everything from high end to low end & everything in between. I cannot use but the SMALLEST amount of powder & I mean the smallest. Even then, sometimes my skin is like HAHA WTF ARE YOU DOING!? 💀🙃

Does your makeup break up around your nose? Your nose looks like the same thing I have. Seborrheic dermatitis. My makeup looks so bad by my nose folds and my chin. Right where you pressed that spray in.
