I wasn’t able to fully seat 3 different brands of pellets in my Carnivore. With the help from one of my viewers, Peter Alex Ben, I chamfered the breech on my Hatsan 130QE to remedy the issue.

I've done this with an inexpensive air rifle before where I was struggling to seat the pellets with my finger. Chuck of Spring Piston Rifle Fever channel covered this too. I used a countersink bit and carefully cut a small chamfer by hand. What you really don't want to do is cut too deep or create any kind of burr. It worked well though and getting good groups with JSB Exact Jumbo 5.51mm pellets.

I think I ran across that video a week or so ago. I had to do something with mine as it was painful to try and seat pellets using only my finger. So far it didn’t hurt accuracy but it doesn’t seem to have improved it either.

Scott, my new Hatsan 95 Vortex .22 also has a tight breech (as does my Norica Dragon in the same caliber), which causes issues with longer, flared skirt pointed pellets. Thst said, I was stunned to see it not only chambered 17 grain Predator Metalmags and 18 grain H&N Crow Magnums with no trouble, but was shockingly accurate out to at least fifteen yards with them using only a Williams peep sight with the stock front fiber optic front... 😅😁😮👍 I've been contemplating ordering another Hatsan 95 with the QE barrel, another Williams, and the Air Venturi glibe front sight with inserts to see if it'll all work together....PA does have a supposed 60 day money back gaurantee if it doesn't...I dunno though....either way, I'll need to wait until I have more money 😅😁 So far, I'm liking the 95. It had some cosmetic issues with the stock out of the box, and my rear stock screw annoyingly loosened up on me, but nothing major so far....the gun's metalwork might actually be better than either of my Spanish guns surprisingly enough too... Of course, I do want to get at least one more Cometa at some point as well, but the Hatsans are certainly more budget friendly overall....just more of a QC risk unfortunately...

I’m encouraged to hear you are having good luck with your Hatsan. I keep wanting to do a video with my 130 but it’s awful, I can’t hit anything with it. A peep sight sounds like a good solution and I’d be happy with that, just don’t really want to spend $60 on one. My 95 is a far better shooting gun than my 130.

This will 100% change the prefered pellets of the rifle tho When I first tested mine I thought it was trashed but it just likes weird pellets now haha

This gun didn’t have any chamfer whatsoever. I tried three different brands of pellets (including Hatsan) and none would seat flush in the breech without a ton of force. During the winter while wearing gloves I could shove the pellets down inside with my Beeman pellets seat. Not that it warmed up it was really uncomfortable trying to do the same thing barehanded. I ended up tapping the pell seat with plastic handle of a screw driver to get them seated. Not exactly convenient or practical. Now the pellets seat into the breech like a normal gun.

@@airgunsofalaska I had jam issues on sub 500fps Crosmans for summilar reasons so I thought id give it a try but id didn't work out exactly how I wanted to it changed the pellet preferences drastically but still didn't have the power to increase the pellet selection The barrel is now polished and on a 1000fps rifle and it does shoot just fine with pretty interesting pellets that some of my other Crosmans ate not fan of. But there is definitely some kind of risk especially if you don't have alot of pellets to try and hope for the ONE KIND you have on hand to work for you after the chamfer

I wonder what this will do to FPS? More air could get around the pellet and bring fps down, but there should be less friction to push the pellet out.

I’m not sure why would it negatively impact the velocity? The stock configuration of the breech was acting like a die and I had to use a ton of force to seat each pellet. The pellets were getting altered by just loading the gun. The o-ring can seal only so much pressure. If I didn’t force the pellet to seat into the breech than the skirts got shaved and malformed upon closing the breech. My Diana 34 has a chamfer on the breech, I suspect the Hatsan does not because it’s an additional machining step and they aren’t that sophisticated nor is their QC very good.

@@airgunsofalaska Sounds like it was ridiculously tight the way you got it, now it's just normal force to push in the pellet? I had to google 'chamfer' I think I know what you mean, bummer to hear Hatsan is cutting corners too, I haven't tried them yet but they do have a lot of interesting guns.

@@yoitired I should have done a before and after video that showed the initial problem. It was terrible! The pellets had to be forced into the breech. It made an unpleasant gun to shoot even worse.

I got the hatsan carnivore, wood stock, 30 cal when it first came out years ago, I don't like it, it's heavy, the trigger sucks and I have the same issue with pellets not seating in the breach very good, I have 4 Gamo rifles, all 22 cal, love them, hatsan sucks
@airgunsofalaska3 ай бұрын
I agree 100% 😆. I can’t hit anything with this gun, the trigger is terrible and three different brands of pellets (including Hatsan) wouldn’t seat flush into the breech without a ton of force. I keep trying to have a open mind with the gun but it’s really hard to do so when you can pick up a Gamo, shoot it accurately without trouble or drama and everything on the Gamo works so much better without the effort.

The quatro trigger can be set to a resonable trigger .you need longer allen screws .then the factory one .

@peteralexben it's not the stages or resistance, it's how it feels when fired, a kind of vibration with a " snap " feeling, it hurts my finger after 5 or 6 shots, I watched 1 video where the guy said to pull up as you are pulling back, that might help he said, I haven't tried it yet, in fact I haven't shot it in over 3 years
