With a underlever with a POI that's way off....just bend the barrel to bring it back into the right range so that you don't have to max it your windage or elevation. After that adjustment it should be good I go until it's accidentally dropped or stepped on. Hope you find the sweet spot between the pellet it likes and the hold it prefers.

I bought my CFX from the Gamo website in January of this year. It's muzzle velocity at 3 feet with a 14.3 grain pellet averages around 595 fps. That's around 11.24 foot pounds of energy. I must have gotten the European version.

The problem is the burrs that damage the seals, when assembling and talking about assemblers, the operators who assemble them need to have little professionalism and know that they cause this damage, each one in their job tries to do it well since it costs less than doing it wrong,

I almost made a purchase on the Gamo CFX but after much research and many reviews, I decided against it. I had read about the breech block problem, where the seal would get gouged from normal use and had heard of the pellet feeding problems. I don't understand why Gamo did not use the CAT trigger in what was supposed to be a precision spring piston rifle. I hardly ever watch anything from Expert Airgun Reviews because I believe he is full of hot air, lol. On a nother note, "Airguns with David" who I personally know through phone conversations, said that he has had good success with his CFX and that this was a 12 to 13 FPE rifle. I recommend reaching out to David he is a good guy.

The gun feels solid and well made. I adjusted the trigger last night and that helped a bit. I don’t find it to be a bad trigger, I tend to get used to everything. Powerwise I don’t mind the power but printing 900 FPS on the gun is pretty misleading. I’m hopeful that through diligence and careful loading I’ll avoid shaved skirts which I’ve read can cause damage to the seals. I’m also thinking this gun is more susceptible to dry fire damage than a more traditional configuration. I’ll have to look that guy up. 👍

Right!? That was a huge red flag and why I’ve not yet put a scope on it. I have the original Acc 22 caliber that was renamed CFX by Gamo . At the time it was offered in .177 also . Mine is ten years old now and has no such issues . Mine didn't come with the scope rail , out of the box it came a Centerpoint 3x9x40mm AO scope that included a one piece mount . I thought great this will work ...not . It shoots CPHP 14.3 grain with ease . After a while the scope would not hold zero . Anyone expecting this rifle to be a powerhouse will be in for a let down . Its not a high dollar rifle , got mine for 130.00 . Lower your expectations or empty your wallet .If you expect it to shoot like a rifle costing 3 or 4 times more then don't buy it SIMPLE. But once cry latter . I upgraded the scope to a UTG 3x12x44mm SF with the 30mm tube and matching one piece mount , its working great . I always make sure the pellets are well seated before closing the breech . Some pellets may be to long for the breech ? Watched many videos and read a lot articles on this rifle . Removed my open sights as I like using a scope . Thanks for doing this and the best of luck .

I'm hoping it works out for you and the gun gets better. I kind of wanted one of these since I missed out buying one in the past. As a consumer you shouldn't have to fix issues. That should have been dealt with at the factory. Period. Here are some things you might want to look at though. Is the front sight adjustable by loosening the grub screw on the muzzle? As for the rear, is there a stop that prevents the scope mount from moving or is the screw tight? I mean most higher end spring guns usually do. It may be absent on some youth guns. I dont know how that gun is put together but I always thought that it was usually break barrels that had droop issues and that was the reason for creating underlevers. I could see it having that issue if the breach block is separate from the piston tube. I myself prefer to have functioning open sights on all of my guns, if i can. I believe Gamo USA is thinking, "We'll just throw on and not test the crappy iron sights to save money. They can just use the scope. Nobody uses iron sights in this day an age." 🙄
@airgunsofalaska
@airgunsofalaska Күн бұрын
I was thinking about your comments last night and started wondering if they just threw a front sight on there with the idea guys would only shoot 10 yds with open sights. It’s therefore too short and why the rear sight has to be maxed out in elevation for 20 yds? It did come with a scope and rings and there is a scope stop. I’m going to install that stuff in the near future and see how it does.

Also it shot left all the time, meaning the rifle was and is useless. I should have returned it but didn't, so it's just sitting in the closet. It's weird because I have an old Daisy model 130A break barrel, and it was made by Gamo in Spain, and it's a great rifle, I've always enjoyed it, and it's super accurate, reliable, and never any issues. So I don't know what they are doing these days. Weird thing is, I did buy one of those cheap chinese B3's and a B1, and after some TLC and tuning, they are both fun to shoot and very accurate, so no complaints there, no crooked barrels and somehow I got lucky because neither of them have any barrel droop, and I've read that's common with those, so I guess I was lucky this time.

I have some break barrels, that I didn't clean the barrel. It took some were from 500- 1000 shots for it to settle in and get accurate, (same with my PCP's) ... Have some pump and CO2 rifles, and pistols, that I spent the time scrubbing (cleaning) and polishing the barrel, and it only took some were around 25 - 50 rounds for the barrel to settle in... Aside from break barrels, PCPs, and pumps, that fact still remains that the barrels that were cleaned and polished for me were inherently more accurate, quicker than not... Some others may have better results... Just troughing in my 5 cents... Hope it helps... Big C out...😎

I really enjoy this channel because you mostly stick to the affordable guns. This is the first time I've seen the No. 25 in action. It looks way cool to shoot; I might have to fork out some more $ to get one some day. Not surprised you had trouble at 50 feet, as it's rated at only 350 fps, only about 100 fps higher than the Red Ryder. In fact, you can use the Red Ryder "Shooting Gallery" with a rubber mat that acts as a bb catcher, allowing young shooters to shoot their Red Ryders and Bucks indoors, in the basement. The box says "don't shoot anything over 350 fps" with this. So you could shoot the No. 25 even with that Red Ryder shooting gallery. A little historical information about the No. 25: I have been doing a little research on the history of the Daisy 880, and I purchased the "It's A Daisy!" history of the first 90 years of the Daisy company, written by son of one of the founders, and then himself a long time president/head of the company dude of Daisy, Cass Hough. Cass kept a diary over the years, and used that as a reference to various decisions made that resulted in some of Daisy's most famous guns. He writes about Charles Fred LeFever, the engineer/inventor behind the No 25. In late 1911, Lefever, who was from St. Louis, wrote a letter to Ed Hough at Daisy in Plymouth, MI. It said "I have designed and built a model of a pump action air rifle, which I would like to have you see with a view toward its manufacture." Hough delayed answering, so Lefever, sent another letter saying Daisy wasn't the only company in the air rifle business, and if they didn't act properly, he would go elsewhere. Normally, this would offend a company president, but Hough was intrigued by the boldness of this guy, so Hough traveled to St. Louis (not the other way around) to see what LeFever had to offer. When Hough saw the plans, he realized this was pretty sophisticated for the time, and made LeFever an offer. LeFever sort of accepted stating "Well , if you're really deadly serious about making this gun, I'll come to Plymouth for a few months to get you started, but that's all." He stayed until 1953. It took more than a year to engineer and produce the tools for the first pump gun, but by 1913 they had a prototype to show. It went into full production in 1914, and over 8,000,000 copies of the gun were produced by the time Cass Hough wrote his book in 1976. I would not of typed all this, except when I saw this video, I thought I remembered reading about this engineer who made a pump gun that was supposedly still around. When I saw this video, and the stamped engraving on the receiver, I thought, "that's the gun!" and looked it up. Hope you enjoyed the story.

@@brianwilke592 Wow! Thanks for taking the time to share the history of the No. 25.👍 I didn’t know much about this gun and did a little bit of reading before posting this video. I had no idea it had been in production for such a lengthy time. As a kid visiting my grandparents house one summer I was out shooting BB guns with a neighbor kid that lived nearby. He had a No. 25 and I’d never seen anything like it. I was impressed at how quickly he could shoot compared to my Crosman 760 Powermaster. Decades later I was shopping for a lever action BB gun for my oldest daughter and I saw the No. 25 available and I ordered it for myself and a 105 for her. I’ve not shot this No. 25 very much, I bought it more out of nostalgia and curiosity more than anything else. I can see how it could be shot indoors with a rubber backstop. Thanks for the kind words about my channel. I seem to gravitate to the guns commonly found in the big box stores or sporting goods stores. I’ve got a number of expensive European springers but don’t tend to shoot them very much. I guess at the distances I shoot in my yard they are kind of overkill and I evidently like to collect airguns 🤣 so I tend to keep acquiring new guns that don’t cost a fortune.

@@commonsurvivor yes, an older kid, probably 4th grade and up depending on how big/strong they are. Unlike the lever action Daisy’s they can’t flip the gun around in a different orientation for leverage to cock it. Something else I just thought about, it wouldn’t be my first choice from a durability aspect. I remember dropping my guns as a kid or falling down with them. I’d think one of the sheet metal Daisy lever actions like a Buck 105 or a Red Ryder would be more resistant to being banged around and dropped over the long run. I don’t remember ever breaking one of my 70’s/80’s Daisy lever actions until I submerged one in our little wading pool and shot water out of it. 🤣🤦‍♂️ From my experience with the lever guns, they work and shoot for a long long time.
