Focus and enjoy the show. When I see the Stones, there won't be many pictures - of course I'm almost in the sky, so that doesn't help....lol. Enjoy my friend - looking forward to your review.

It is always fun to see what makes it into your catalog. Your Status Quo video inspired me to pick up one of those 5 Classic Album sets by them. Got 5 CDs for under $20. I had heard of the band but didn't know any of their songs. The albums included were Piledriver, Hello!, Quo, On The Level and Blue For You. Have really been digging Piledriver, nice solid rock album. I also picked up the 10cc box so that has been getting a lot of listens, really great sound and I have really fallen in love with the band. You make a great point with the Dylan set, I picked up the 2 disc version of Who's Next/Lifehouse for that same reason. Sometimes it is nice to have a bite size portion of the set for on the go. Looking forward to the 8 Track video!

Thanks so much. Wow - that Status Quo box you picked up is a deal. Definitely amongst their five best albums - all in one box and great price. I know that box series - great price and bare bones, but hey it's really about the music. That's the perfect intro to the Quo - heads down, head banging boogie. Gotta say, that their sound is similar - boogie, so I can only take them in album size bites typically, but really great stuff, when you're in the mood. I have to dig deeper into 10CC, I have a live album and a best of. Never been a big fan - perhaps about time to dig deeper - thanks so much again.

I remember that Tull EP coming out around the time of the Stormwatch box set, I never so the need to buy at the time, but a must at that price well done. I completely agree Alan, Stormwatch for me has grown in stature on each passing year.

Thanks Keith - Yea when Stormwatch first came out, I liked it but was a bit underwhelmed after the masterpieces of SFTH and HH - my two favorite Tull albums. But now, especially after the boxset, Stormwatch proudly sits with them as one of the greatest trio of album releases ever.

Stormwatch is such a melancholic reflective album, beautiful melodies and brooding. Who knows why it is a fan favourite and not one of the bands, maybe so many tainted memories. Heavy Horses was where I hooked up with Tull, it's always been up there for me in their back catalogue. I always enjoy your catch up sessions Alan.

Glad to see that you enjoyed the Bardens disc Alan. If you liked "Seascape" and think you'd enjoy something even more ambient then you must check out David Arkenstone's 'Valley in the Clouds". That album was one of if not the first New Age album I ever purchased and was blown away! Very relaxing and other worldly to say the least. ✨

@@TheAlanRosenbergShowHello Alan! It's hard to believe but David has put out some 80+ Studio albums!!! He's been nominated for 5 grammies but never was awarded ONE !?! "Valley in the Clouds" was his premier album and though not my favorite, it definitely exemplifies his musical style. I guess he has also done some rock soundtracks for a number of video games. Talk about someone who should have a box set!!! Anyway, as a sidebar, they are coming out with the box treatment for Al Stewart's "Past, Present and Future" album which includes a concert performance featuring a guest appearance by Andy Powell. Have a great day! ✨💫✨

some interesting stuff there. nice to see ya continuing to make a dent in that backlog. 8-track ep should be cool but what i really wanna know about from watching this is…. your smart TV recognizes laser disc player and has an actual icon for it?!?! That’s crazy. I wouldn’t think it would.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow

I didn't notice it was in my video...lol. Yes - my whole system is through the receiver - so when I watch laserdiscs (which I was today) - it also goes through my stereo. I can't fit a really big tv there, but I don't mind, because I'm more audio driven anyway - and laserdiscs, blu-ray, dvd, shit even the 8-tracks sound might fine.

See you later, Allen Ginsberg....well I certainly understand what you mean by the Complete Basement Tapes being a little too much. Actually, I ended up selling mine a long while back when I was in high gear to generate more revenue by any means--and I was kinda sorry to see it go--if only because the Basement Tapes was always my favorite Dylan album, and the official release, as great as it was, seemed to be a little too much of Robbie Robertson and the Band. That being said, the two disc version is indeed a great listen. In the years I had the complete set, I just didn't listen to it at all--and it seemed to be too much of a library piece, or encyclopedia thing. I mean, I can deal with 6 CDs worth of music, but all the other scholarly essays and think pieces seem to be a little too much--yet I've bitched to no end about the Stones having these big box sets that contain nothing, so go figure. I remember too when box sets went to that goofy oblong rectangle--I had Sonny Rollins' Complete Prestige Recordings in a box like that--7 CD, in those triple disc jewel cases. I sold it. I also remember when the box sets first came out--and they were basically LP sized boxes, but much deeper. Biograph was the first, and I remember being so excited when I bought that on vinyl. Haven't listened to it in 30+ years. I remember getting the Bill Evans Complete Fantasy recordings in the same LP sized box--I think that was 9 CDs--I still have that one. However, I sold virtually every other Bill Evans box I owned (and I had just about every one of them), including that weird set up for the Complete Verve Recordings. Do you remember that Alan? That came in the oxidizing metal box? 18 CDs in a flywheel, packed in those mini rice paper sleeves, and a very thick book of liner notes--that was the same size as a CD jewel case--just a thick hard cover book, with tiny print, impossible to read with print that small. What surprised me about it so much was that I expected the 'rusting metal box' to be some big thing--it was actually very small--basically the same dimensions as a CD jewel case, but very deep. The top was a metal hinged cover that flipped back to open. Inside was a plastic shelve was held the hardcover booklet in the top compartment, and the metal flywheel with the CDs underneath. So, it was this little rusting metal box. I never finished listening to all 18 CDs...I had to sell it when I was broke. It retailed in the late 90s for $217. It now goes for thousands on eBay...I don't think I got $100 for it.

You are so cracking me up - no, I've no idea what you're talking about - Massive Bill Evans boxset - have never seen it, but man you made me laugh out loud. One day (maybe soon) I'll do a video on my fairly unimpressive jazz collection - I think I have around 100 Jazz albums, but it's growing. I actually have two Bill Evans albums - Undercurrent with that amazing cover and Soul Bop Live with Randy Brecker (haven't heard that one yet). oooh - impressive uh...lol. Thanks for making me laugh.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Was Undercurrent the album he did with guitarist Jim Hall? Or was it a late career release? I have not heard it, but I think I recall the cover pic. Well, Alan, 100 jazz albums isn't so bad....In fact, given my thinning of herd in recent years, I may not even have 100 titles any more. I just didn't have time to listen to those massive box sets--and I acquired a lot of them: Sonny Rollins, Trane, Miles, Monk--but none as much as Bill Evans. I think I overbought his catalog--the box sets in particular--his music had such a pull on me. I think my jump the shark moment came when I finally acquired the aforementioned 'rusting steel box' that was his "Complete Verve Recordings". It retailed for about $217 when it was released in the late 90s--but it was 18 CDs, so that's about $12 per disc. But the first pressing was in this steel box, that operated as I described above. Do look it up--I've never seen anything packaged like that, before or since. I think they only made 5000 or 10,000 of them. Or I could be way off on that--but either way, it's long out of print. When I was desperate for money (and flat out not listening to it, as I never came close to playing all 18 discs), I tried selling it to a local collector, certain I would get at least $100 for it, as you will see it on eBay for FAR more, in fact, copies still in the shrink wrap are asking over four figures. He insisted what I had was not nearly as valuable as I thought it was--he was seeing copies online for less than $50. But what he was looking at were reissues--that was just a red cardboard box with the CDs housed in those individual cardboard sleeves, NOT the rusting metal box. And even those are three figures on eBay. I think he ultimately gave me $60 for it. Either way, do look it up--what surprised me was how small it was--it's really compacted--just sort of a fat, metal square. The whole thing really pissed me off!!

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I have not heard that set--and suddenly want to very much, especially if it's just duets with him and Hall. I loved Jim Hall's playing in the Sonny Rollins quartet of the early 60s. If I may put in a plug for a great stand alone Evans album, and if you want to hear him at his most lovely and emotive playing, check The Paris Concert Edition One and Two. Recorded in 1979 with his last trio of Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera, the playing features the 'telepathic' interplay they became known for during the last two years of Evans' life. They were originally released on ECM in the early 80s--with their typically spare cover art. I really found it hypnotic and entrancing.
