When you look at what Victoria Pedretti managed to accomplish in just three years, hopes for what she’ll achieve in the years to come are through the roof. Pedretti burst onto the scene in a big way with the release of The Haunting of Hill House back in 2018. After that, she joined another red hot Netflix series, playing Love on Season 2 of You. On top of that, she starred opposite Dylan O’Brien in an episode of Amazing Stories and now she’s back on Netflix with yet another stellar show, the sequel season to Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
This time around, Pedretti plays Dani Clayton, a young woman who leaves home to spend some time in the UK where she’s hired to be the au pair for two young children who recently lost their parents. Those kids live on the Bly estate, a place with quite the history and the potential to change the lives of everyone on the property.
With The Haunting of Bly Manor now available on Netflix, Pedretti joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss her journey to the show, beginning with what convinced her that she had to be an actor. This is a perfect example of how important it is to have great interviewer. Perri asks good questions with room for the actor to give their own views/feelings, she keeps it light and casual and relatable, and this is one of the first times I've seen Victoria Pedretti seem chill and comfortable in an interview. She still seems pretty shy and reserved honestly. But I feel like that's how I would also be in her position. Long form interviews seem like the last thing I'd want to do if I were a celebrity, lol. No matter how good the interviewer is, there are always some awkward questions thrown in, and Perri definitely asked a couple uncomfortable ones.

At 17:40 Victoria says she doesn't think Tarantino has seen anything she's done, but actually he has. He has said The Haunting of Hill House is his favorite Netflix show by far. Though he probably only watched it after making Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, given that they finished filming that around the time Hill House came out.

I stand corrected. This is the best interview I have seen so far of Victoria. It seemed like she’s conversing with a peer. The questions were asked in a way that Victoria has the choice to answer them or not. The atmosphere was overall nice. This is probably the closest to Victoria’s real personality if we’re ever friends with her hahahaha just keep being you, V ❤️

Perri is a great interviewer, first time watching and definitely watching more of her interviews. Also I really appreciate the fact that Victoria did not diplomatically get around the last question. She said no and Perri respected her boundary well. I wish I had this sense of clarity and honesty in my life.

She was asked in another interview if she identified more with Nell or with Dani, and she actually said Nell. I agree with your comment though because I see more parallels between Victoria and Dani. Victoria's move to NYC with "a suitcase and a dream" sounds pretty gutsy, kind of like Dani's move from the U.S. to the U.K. with very few belongings. Victoria is very private similar to Dani (how Dani had never opened up about her past until she met Jamie). Victoria also seems like more of an independent person, just like Dani. Nell seemed to me like she was much more dependent on others.

I remember recently bingeing Bly Manor, and feeling like it went on a bit too long, but being satisfied with it and Dani and Jamie's romance bringing me to the verge of tears because gothic horror/tragic romance. And then I said "Okay, you've stayed away long enough." The day after I binged Hill House ...... wow.......Bly Manor was fun and cool and stuff but Hill House and that ending monologue by Nell......damn, Victoria Pedretti can act!

Love is the best character in the show. She´s the only one who´s been honest with Joe, and she wanted him knowing the way he is. In fact, I do not undestand Joe´s reaction when Love finally tells him the truth.

The casting of both Hill House and Bly Manor was outstanding. The screenplay, direction and storylines were perfect. As someone who has lived with the paranormal my entire life, it was so refreshing to watch two series that were believable and didn’t have the gore that is in so many of today’s shows and movies. Both series were home runs. Bly was a amazing story of unconditional love.

I think what made her so good in this series, and will ultimately give her a big career following is how "in" her emotions she was able to be. Takes a gifted actor to get into the moment and feel it to the point the audience can feel the legitimacy of it too. Channeling that kind of passion and raw emotion where it is clear that she is feeling it in the moment and not just acting it is a true gift. Especially for being so new to acting, I expect her to have a wonderful career and look forward to seeing her future work.

Such a great interview, you really asks great in depth questions and makes her comfortable, I like how victoria is so honest in her answers too. She is an amazing actress. I loved her in both haunting series and “you”. I swear the way she acts every emotion is completely believable and that’s why she is so great. I loved her reaction to hereditary because she’s right and honestly none of the blumhouse films are what I personally call horror and that’s why I don’t enjoy many of them.

This was such a great interview, I adore Victoria pedretti she is gonna go on to do some great things she seems so lovely. It’s my dream to be a composer for tv shows and films, I love how determined and self assured she is it’s really inspiring.

never been a fan of horror films. didnt watch final destination ever . now I watched Bly Manor because of Damie and Im glaad I watched it coz it is a love story
