Have Hornby got this one right??? 50044 Review and Running.

I really wasn't going to get one of these as the art work from hornby was all wrong. Steve @ Chris' Crafts and Model Railways messaged me saying it was spot on and I think hornby and got this one right.
Will have to see what accurascale bring out but this one is an excellent model of a class 50.

Nice to see it has a 21 pin, but frankly the Hornby 50 tooling is out of date now that Accurascale announced theirs. Will wait for that instead.

As long as you are happy with your purchase that's the main thing. Love Class 50's and affectionate towards Exeter dur to many happy hours trainspotting there. But personally I would have saved my pennies for another year or so and acquired a Accurascale Class 50 for less than £200!

A carefully made and informative video. The motor and drive mechanism have been much improved over the old Lima model, but as regards external appearance ir looks like the same tooling. Thanks for uploading.

I think I’ll wait for my Accurascale ones but thanks for sharing I was tempted when the video started but no detail and light in the cab not very good from hornby cheers Al

Yes it works great with tts and iPhone speaker which can be squeezed in whilst keeping the working fan too

Already prepaid my Accurascale class 50 Royal Oak. Hornby is nice enough, but not in the same league.

Looks lovely. £200 for something based on an older tooling though?! Would have hoped for sound to be included for that. I'm reading a lot of comments on here about how this is out of date now Accurascale have announced theirs. How does that work, when the Accurascale model is still a year away ?

Excellent, I didn’t pre order one after the mess Hornby made with GBRf ones but now it’s got me tempted, how’s the livery and the lines? 50048 when released in the same livery was wrong, how’s this one compare?

It looks pretty good. Not many pics around of Exeter in this livery but the ones I've seen are pretty good. The last on I found this morning shows the blue to be pretty accurate aswell.
