While i'm at it you can also throw in the term bara, idk where it comes from and it's just slang but it refers to very muscular manly homosexual men and you can obviously see how this relates to his shirt.

@Top Lobster “Where are you originally from?” Or “Where is your accent from?” I get that about the accent every once in a while and I find it very nice. It’s not like *I* am the weirdo, it’s just my accent. -:) When people ask “Where are you from?” I get a bit unhappy (not very unhappy, though) because since I’ve been paying taxes in this country for 20 years, and have been a citizen for 10, I guess I am obviously from here! Not *originally* from here, but for the best part of my life this is the only country where I worked, paid taxes, volunteered, owned property and (in the past 10 years) voted. So yeah, now I really am from here...

@bøņę đåđđý i get upset when people ask “WHAT are you?” As if I were an animal or an object. Not a big deal, though, the “originally” part. Problem is “what”.

Dude. I had a similar story. There was this new girl in class from Thailand. My High school teacher thought she was Filipino and wanted me to talk to her because apparently she doesn't speak English(?? confused because most Filipinos know English). I was glad to help, and just followed orders so I went up and talked to her. I started talking to her in Tagalog (Filipino) and she was just looking at me super confused, not saying a thing. I thought she didn't hear me so I spoke to her louder, making her more confused. Turns out she couldn't understand me cuz she wasn't f*cking filipino... lmao. It felt embarrassing.

Most of these shows are pretty niche so not exactly recommended for the casual listener, but if you’re already into what the show does you’ll love it, he makes a really wonderful guest and his “I don’t think so honey”s (a kind of performance/segment at the end of each _las Culturistas_ episode that evolved into a live show they’ve put on a dozen or so times) are always the BEST.

As an adopted Asian person, I've had to explain my German nationality all the time. I get that ppl don't know. It does get annoying, though, when they keep insisting that I can't possibly be speaking their language, or that I must be desperate to go back to my " homeland" . I was a baby when I was adopted. Why the hell would I want to go "back" to a place I never really knew? Or when people shout " Ni hao!" at me after I've greeted them in perfectly good English (in the UK) or German ( in Germany).

I think the idea is to _not_ ask? I think the problem is that asking someone what their ethnicity is when you don’t know them implies that their ethnicity is somehow a prerequisite for human interaction and that you have a right to know. Like, you are first required to tell us your origin then you may participate. I think white people do this amongst themselves so often they don’t realize how it comes across to minorities as potentially threatening. I guess it’s less scary when another potentially maligned person is interested in something from you that you too may be maligned for, as opposed to those historically responsible for the maligning thinking it’s cool to just demand personal things from strangers like that. My point? I dunno gorl but I hear you

@@alejandrofrancetich4607 , I do actually look like Mafalda. I'm short, have frizzy/curly hair, am very politically opinionated, and spent a semester abroad in Buenos Aires when I was in college in 1991. That's where I learned about Mafalda. To this day, whenever I speak Spanish, I tend towards a porteño accent.

I have absolutely no problem when people ask me where I'm from. I mean we all look different and are in a foreign country so it is only logical in fact normal if someone asks me where I'm from. I never get offended. In fact I find it's a compliment that they are interested and curious and I get to share and maybe even have a great conversation or cultural exchange. It also makes sense if someone asks any Asian about our English because again historically that is not our native language. It's Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc. Then I explain it's part of our education to have English as a compulsory subject and everyone in my country take extra English classes even Cambridge examinations because we all know the majority of the world speaks English. It's no big deal. It's just exactly how if I met an Indian and he spoke fluent Mandarin. It is unexpected and you would naturally be impressed. So it's the same both ways. Don't take everything as an offence.

As a plain ole white woman in America the only thing I ever entertain concerning ethnicity is if I have a genuine question about something I’ve read or want to discuss it, I feel like I have an obligation to learn about your culture as much as you feel pressured to understand mine. I’d rather make you feel understood and seen as a human than a lame stereotype.

Hi there, I know you’re in the comment section probably looking for comments about the video obviously LOL but I wanted to take the time to tell you that everything will fall into place in your life. Pain is never permanent, and the situations you’re in are totally and completely temporary. That’s the rule of life no pain or situations can last forever. Believe it or not but you can do this. You are so much stronger than you know. You know how I know? Because I am a human being too, and I have overcome the hardest battles! You can do it too! you can overcome everything you’re going through! You are precious, and you are an overcomer! We are doing this together! ❤️
