Hawaii is the first state in the United States to ban the sale and use of sunscreens containing two specific ingredients that are believed to be damaging coral reefs.
In this video, I provide a quick overview to reef-safe sunscreens and also tell you which sunscreen is a favorite of my family on this list.
As promised, below is a list of Hawaii-approved, reef-safe sunscreens. I expect the list of reef-safe sunscreens to grow as more and more companies remove the harmful ingredients from their sunscreens. Therefore, this list is by no means inclusive of all options.
