My son Jonathan and I drove 1.5 hours north of Hamburg, PA to the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. We walked counterclockwise 5.5 miles on the outer loop. I would strongly suggest going clockwise because you will be climbing up the rocks instead of down the rocks. We had a beautiful, sunny day with temps in the low 70's and low humidity. We timed it perfectly.
This was probably the toughest 5 miles I have hiked so far but it was so fun and so worth it. There is a $10 fee because it is a privately owned sanctuary. It was worth every dollar.

I’ve hiked the easiest trail to the top, and it’s not easy! Someone should make it a little user friendly. You should come during Fall migration. Counters sit on those rocks for hours and count the different species of birds heading south. Magnificent 😊

Great video that really shows the trails and gives a good idea of what to expect when I go! And how sweet to hike with your son.

This is basically in my backyard, I've been drinking by it a hundred times and never stopped. I'll have to do it sometime.

Definitely give it a try. It has beautiful views very close to the parking lot. It does cost $10 to enter the park though.

Nice Hike! I never knew Hawk Mountain contained so many rock scrambles and steep sections like that. Also loved the shot of the red salamander, I'm always looking for them but never seem to find one. Thanks for taking us along...

Thanks Walter. I was kind of prepared for the rocks because I watched several videos of this hike but nothing really prepares you for it. Actually, there was one steep climb that was probably the toughest part. The rock scrambles were really fun. That was my first time getting video of the Eastern Newt. I had only seen one before on the AT. My son saw it first so I doubt I would have seen it. He thought it was a kid's toy at first.

Thanks. It's a little magnetic clip-on macro lens. It's nice but you have to be really, really close to the subject for it to find focus. I need to look for one that's somewhere in between this one and the actual lens.

Thanks Aaron, another nicely filmed and produced video! Thought it was nice to see you with your son. Is he in the Navy? I ask because I was stationed in San Diego in the Navy and the Navy had a large presence there in the mid-70s. Question: Does the AT go near here? I recall a Hawk Mountain mentioned in past readings of the trail. God Bless!

Hey Ken, good to see you on here again and thanks for watching my video. No, my son is not in the Navy. He moved out there with some friends and works for a scooter store. He shoots video and photos for the social media part of his store. He only gets home once a year so it was good to be able to spend the day with him on a hike. Hawk Mountain is not part of the AT but is very close to it. I believe there is a Hawk Mountain that the AT goes through but this isn't the one.
