@Xx69roadrunnerxX It could be better, a 12V71 natural sounds much nicer! This particular engine is ruined. The fallers were using it as a mobile roadblock, and were spraying half a can of ether into it every morning. Now it won't start without ether!

Todays S-15 ULSD fuel is very harmfull to detroits, add a quart of cheap 2 stroke oil to every 100 galons of fuel to keep the compression up! I miss the sight active yards, and well, even the logging roads as around here logging was pretty much banned due to the new forest service policys such as this and all the tax money to build the roads in the 70's has gone to waste

@Xx69roadrunnerxX You on da money. It's all about heat. There has to be enough heat from compressing the air, to ignite the diesel. If wear from the world's best solvent, ether, washing the film off the walls drops the compression that critical bit, there's no ignition. Just like you can't be a little bit pregnant, you can't ignite diesel with 'almost' enough heat. Then you need the ether as a catalyst to make flash point lower and light up that fuel. The colder it is out the worse it is.

@jusportel Ether, eeehh!! Meth for trucks! Especially Detroit 2-strokes right? Ive heard they can, become ether dependant if its used to much. This true?

Jason Waterfalls yeah any diesel does, we have a ih b250 and you can’t start it without ether even on a hot summer day with glow plugs although that tractor is about 70 years old I believe

@Xx69roadrunnerxX Yes, they become addicted to it. Terrible stuff!

Don't rev the nuts out of a cold diesel engine like that when it did eventually start, that is the WORST thing you can possibly do which will result in considerable damage to the engine! Show some respect please for pity's sake!
