Peppers and chillies are one of the most universally grown and versatile vegetables; and this video shows you how easy it is to plant them. You need to plant them as soon as possible in early spring as they need as long a growing season as possible in which to ripen the fruits. We have planted ours directly into the bed as they need quite a large space in which to grow, so if you are growing them in pots make sure the pot is at least 30cm (12”) in diameter. Feed with a balanced fertiliser, such as Growmore until the first fruit has formed then switch to a high potash feed, such as Tomorite. Keep an eye out for slugs as they particularly like sweet peppers.
