Hi Phil, It’s good to have an old fashioned book in your hands so I’m with Colin on this one 👍. It’s easier to flip through pages than to search through a digital manual. Used to have Haynes manuals for the Mk 2 and 3 Ford Granada I had in the late 80’s and 90’s. Those were the days 😀. Cheers Rob

Hi Rob n Gail. I loved my old manuals when I had bugger all and had to fix something to save money. The Caravan one is great for most things but anything requiring gas or electrics I am out of my depth. You were posh Granda's v a Escort😂. Strangely an old Escort is worth more than some of the Granada's these days ( who would have thought?). Yes March I am looking forward to it so much, that will be our second trip away. Just cleaned the van over the weekend and its looking like New. I can't wait. Cheers Phil. 👍🙂

Another interesting video. Being old school I do like to look at manuals etc. Sometimes reading theses books helps when Facebook groups fail, especially when someone is either dismissive or downright rude. They do have a place for those that like tinkering. I’ve still got loads from my motorbikes and cars.

Hi Norman. This is a handy manual it could do with a new edition now. I had a Haynes manuals for the first 5 cars i owned. Being young and skint back then they saved me a few quid and I learnt how to fix most things. The first descent car I owned was Mark 2 Scirocco. I loved that car wish I had another to tinker with. Hi Phil, I still have my 1983 (first reprint) copy of the Haynes that I have referred to over the years. Bought it in 1983 when we bought our first caravan (1970's Elddis Tornado). It is interesting looking back and seeing the sort of issues that be set caravans back then (e.g the aluminium skin tearing above the door due to weight of end kitchens) and how caravans have developed since then. In general Haynes manuals are not a good as they were back then.

Hi Colin. I recall my Grandmothers 1969 Sprite Major 4. It had so many issues but we so many nice holidays in it. I think the new ones cannot cover what a computer can understand. Cars are certainly not made these days for the weekend mechanic (sadly). I am glad I gave you the chance to look back. Thanks again Phil. 🙂👍

Very interesting Phil always bought a Haynes manual whenever i changed the car back in the dsy .. infact theres one in the garage now

Hi Glyn. I wish I owned a car that required one. My Favourite Car was my 2nd a VW Mk2 Scirocco. I loved that car until some daft bugger pulled out in front of me and it was no more😔. I would love another to tinker with. Thanks Phil🙂👍

Hi Phil, In my day the Haynes manual was the bible, but that was because I had an early Ford lol. Great books, still have some today. ATB Mark & Coral

Hi Mark. Yes the manual was a bible. My Ford escort went sick everyday. I would leanrt so much from my Haynes manual. Thanks Phil🙂👍

I always associate Haynes Manuals with my Dad's two Morris Oxfords. He was always poring over it and if I remember, it was quite greasy - particularly the chapters on brakes 😮

Hi Martin. The one I had for my Ford Escort was twice as thick due oil and grease stain. The main chapter for me was the ignition. That car went sick everyday unless it was in the garage. Thanks Phil🙂👍

I like the feel of a book love thumbing through the pages. I’ve had many a Haynes Manual. If I was presented with a copy I’d be happy.

Hi Colin. The Haynes Manual for my Escort was very well used. Put me off Fords for life which shocked our family as they only bought Fords. I much prefer VAG. Thanks Phil🙂👍

John was an amazing guy, practical caravans threw all their tools away when he left and the magazine is terrible because of it, the writer's award is offensive to what it was set out for, Haynes lost their way years ago with woke manual writers, and it really shows now. the people that do the manuals now really have very little idea on what they are supposed to be doing
