The story of this is that to avoid overpopulation in hell, the angels demanded that they come down to hell once a year to kill as many demons as they can for a day before returning back to heaven in an event called "The Cleanse", though others also call it the "Extermination" as well. Charlie (the blond red cheeked and very happy girl) is the princess of hell and wants to try to rehabilitate demons in her hotel so they will "check out" into heaven so she doesn't have to watch her people get slaughtered every year. As you saw, most of hell thinks it is a stupid idea and even her father Lucifer doesn't approve of it, but Alastor the Radio Demon wants to attempt to help her make her dream a reality for his own amusement and his support is actually what is giving her what she needs to do so. Hope that cleared everything up in terms of what the plot of the show overall is.

Alastor died in 1933, but Tom Trench is the oldest that we know of. A theory is that he died from a gas attack in WW1 in the trenches, hence his mask, and last name. Also, if I remember this right, Alastor was a serial killer, and a radio host in the early 1900s, and it’s theorized that he was shot by a hunter who though he was a deer, hence the antlers on his head. Vaggie died in 2014, the youngest, but it’s not known how. Katie killjoy died in the 1990s, but I can’t remember how she died. Angle dust was one of 3 siblings in a mob family, and either died from a drug overdose, hate crime, or during the second mafia war I think, placing his death in the 1980s, along with cherry bomb, though I don’t believe she had any relations to Angle before death. SirPentious died either in the Great Blizzard of 1888, or on the titanic, moving to the US to earn more recognition for his inventions.

Honestly, this show made a pretty good first impression on me. After seeing it I started to think of potential future plot points, specifically for antagonists. One thought that popped into my head was that a demon, one skilled in hypnotism or mind control or something of the like could manipulate other demons and give them the desire to redeem themselves and effectively put his own sleeper agents in Heaven, and once their, give them the assignment to open a gateway to Hell so they could escape and all they seek is to cause chaos throughout the living world and the afterlife and basically start the end times.

To clarify since a few people have commented on this, we record our reactions with a DSLR camera, not a webcam, which only shoots 30 minute clips at a time. That's why you don't see the very end of the episode. We watched it, but we don't have the footage except audio. To include the last 30 seconds would mean rewatching the last five minutes or so by stopping and restarting a new clip which isn't a genuine reaction and not something I like to do. If in the future we're in a position to invest in a good camera that can record endlessly we will, but we aren't there yet and are working with what we have.

Being the pilot episode, there is a lot to grasp and according to the creators the next episode will be a bit less chaotic...been waiting over 2 years for the pilot, it's privately funded so it has taken a while and will continue to take a while for the next episode... I'm speculating Alastor AKA the radio demon is either Charlie's dad, uncle or some other relative. He looks suspiciously similar to her dad in the painting, sings to express himself like she does, and seems to share the same optimism, as well as being super powerful like her parents likely are. It just seems to be too much of a coincidence. Also, he claims that he want to help just because hes bored, but what if there is another reason for it? Wanting to help out a family member?

Some of this is fact some of it is what I think may have happened, so take it with a grain of salt. Also () is why they are in hell.

I love how dense this world is. Every word matters in the script. Nothing is wasted. Every sign, billboard, contains info. It all contributes to the world and story and there is SO MUCH if you go through and look for it. I love that they don't just tell you what you should know but make you figure it out, just like a real world. You wake up and find yourself in hell, good luck. Princess of Hell is how Charlie is introduced, okay, so who is the King of Hell? Satan. Yup, that's her dad. Which is why she says to Alastor that she is the heir to the throne. In all likelihood she has a terrifying amount of raw power herself, but she's just too nice. She was born in hell. It's all she knows. They are her people and she cares. Which is weird in and of itself. It's such a cool concept to play with.

I'm an illustrator and storyboard artist, so it pains me a little when people can't see what's going on. But also, it's totally understandable. They try to fill so much plot info/characters at once within 30 minutes.
