In Todays video we follow a gang of human-insect hybrids as they try to oviposit their way to a successful Rimworld colony using a combination of genetic sciences, biological depravity, religion and a pump action 12 gauge.

4:35: On one hand, chelonians have surprisingly strong bites. Snapping turtles can sever fingers as easily as you bite a french fry in half. On the other hand, if the turtle can reach your toe, you went into combat barefoot or wearing flip-flops. And _that_ is entirely on you.

The idea of the newborns having some capabilities of their host reminds me of the xenomorphs, In comics and games we see variants capable of flying, reflecting bullets, with six limbs, bigger claws, and a poisonous tail like a scorpion.

try again but instead of summoning insects, use stuff like VE Genetics to make your own insectoids (even works with VE Insectoids to let you make the insectoid creator device rather than having to rely on getting it in a quest) also Alpha Animals has a psycast line that lets you summon black insectoids

I’ve always found the best defense against infestation is to just compartmentalize the tunnels with doors, and then start a fire in the infested area, burning out all the insects.

or just instantly kill it. I find infestations really unfun - kill them as they spawn and it's trivial, let them breed for even a season the second they aggro they'll completely wipe you off the map

Insects die in cold temperatures; if you cool your underground mountain base to below -8C, the insects don't spawn. The problem is keeping your pawns happy in the cold if you don't like parkas, especially if you have guests who can't be given proper gear, and a solar flare can heat up your base enough to allow a spawn. As for mined-out mountains, insects have to have at least 2 adjacent "overhead mountain" tiles to spawn, which can be prevented by creating a checkerboard of walls in the mined-out area, if you have the spare bricks.

@@Haloguy3959 Usually how I handle it as well. I've got one fella who's essentially Adam Smasher but with psycasts. Or if I just can't be bothered I delete the tunnels in dev mode lol. Infestations are annoying.

It's interesting you took this route with your insect worship colony. Whenever I do it I generally act like they're a colonial hive, complete with a queen who produces offspring via egg laying and specialized warrior/worker/nurse genotypes to serve alongside her. Definitely going to have to try the parasitoid gene route though at some point.

I wanted to comment this when the dwarf colony video was released, but forgot, im not sorry. But yeah if you want to get rid of a metric ton of corpses, stuff you dont want or infestations, you can set up an oven zone. Just let it cook, eventually anything alive will die from a heatstroke or on fire and any flammable object will be reduced to nothingness, mostly because ashes dont exist in this game. Whenever i start strip mining, i seal the entrance and add something to heat up the insides, if infestation pops up, they'll be cooked alive before they get to do anything. Kill zones too, seal them from both sides, turn up the heat and problem solved.

Making my own RTS race sort of deal with xenotypes fitting certain roles is quite fun. I have an Atlantis-themed culture using all sorts of xenotypes from fish people to cyclopes and minotaurs to tritons and naga.

5:45 foggy rain is no joke. I did 24 days of it for some scout armor and it made the temps in my tundra dip to -35 which let me tell you keeping a base warm at those temps is... a challenge.

surprised you didnt use the mushroom module from vanilla plants expanded. I think it's quite neat for underground bases since you dont need to rely only on nutrifungus which can take a while to grow. This makes me want to try some insectoid focused game

For me at least Tauki are cool but I really only had one in my colony as the general super-workhorse guy. He had a genetic craving for adderal to complement this. He worked faster with about 10 in mining, wake-up, and teratogenic boosts than a level 22 dirtmole, so that can speak for itself.

Also, not sure how to feel about oviposition here being of an Alien variety and not good ole hentai one. On one hand i think im glad, on the other endless farming of prisoners seems perfectly balanced for some hilarious shenanigans.
