We in the US do not learn a second language, but it's quite common outside the states of America. I'd suggest learning another culture or language, as it will really broaden your horizons.

Well they speak English to get a broader reach in viewership. Also Vikings was originally on History channel which is English speaking , HBO is American but branched out to provide access in other languages
