2 Mini 1/24 scale crawlers, each with 4 modes of steering battle it out over an indoor crawler course. Who wins?

Both these micro RC Car crawlers have 4 wheel steering, 4 modes... front steering only, rear steer, standard 4ws and then crab steering. I had them in normal 4 wheel steer for this mini crawler course, and although the devastator came out on top, the WLtoys is pretty capable for it's weight and size! The HBX is in my opinion the best mini rc crawler in it's class!
The next video of this will be the HBX Devastator Vs RGT Adventurer, or the WLtoys 24438B Vs RGT.

I bought the HBX Devastator when it first came out, it was about $105 including shipping. The chassis is 1/24, but the body is 1/35. I didn't like the original tires,so I bought some RC4WD micro crawler tires which were taller and more narrow and a softer compound. They were easy to install because of the plastic wheels with metal beadlock rings. They are a big improvement. I have made videos of it outside crawling over some relatively large logs. I'm very happy with it and have never had any mechanical or electrical problems with it.

Yes, the tyres are not really the correct compound or tread pattern for crawling. I can imagine a few little upgrades in this area will make the capable truck even better!

I agree with the tire, it is a monster truck tires, not crawler. After 5 months playing, i got problem on the electrical, it couldnt move forward/reverse, but servos still work normal. Dont know why, and so hard to find the replacement. Now it just sit in my drawer

I'm getting the Devastator this week, I want 4x4x4 in a smaller version of the larger ,just a 4x4 not the as a 4x4x4, that four wheel turn awesome.

I wanted the hbx but after the losi trail trekker I learned that these rigs are too small for my liking. Still some cool rigs just like a little bigger more capable outdoor rigs. Good info brother!

You can take the hbx going out to. But it just crawl to slow. 😅 i'm measured the speed its just about 7-8km/hr in full throttle. But its very thought small crawler, never break one part since now i have it for 4 years 😅

If only the HBX had a removable battery, it would be brilliant. The tyres aren't very grippy, so my son's has a set of RC4WD Scrambler tyres on it now, and has transformed the handling. It now copes quite well in the dirt on my local Heath. 👍🏻

Eyup tg u wanna try the rocksta 1.24 its 4w steering too they do them with metal gears now standard when i got mine they were plastic n lasted about 10 mins

I do have them both, and my wltoys cant really do slow crawling compare to hbx, it needs more throttle to start, and often got too much throttle. How bout yours? Do you think i can move the esc and servo to hbx, and use hbx motor to get a good power, since my hbx esc is dead. Im not sure wltoys esc will give enough power to hbx motor

Yes, mines a bit sluggish as well. You might be able to switch it all over... not 100% sure though

I have that hbx for 4 years now. Its really tought little crawler, never broke a part until now, just the battery dead few weeks ago 😅 its just 2s lithium ion 500mah. If you can get better wheel & tire i believe that will crawl better.

I just got my HBX and it actually has the 7,4V LiPo battery. Must be tiny to be completely enclosed, I don't know the capacity but it's good. I got a body and swamper tires/wheels from RGT Adventurer. A lot more scale looking at least, but tires should have been just a little bigger.

@@mcplutt i'm just got like that in the packaging. Its says lipo but when it dies i'm opened that esc box that actually use the lithium ion battery in the bottom of plastic case. Or maybe mine was the older version, and the new one now using lipo? 😅 Where are you get the rgt adventurer tire?? Its just the tire and wheel or complete truck?? And you just swap the wheels complete?

I thought you might like to know that because I'm getting a HBX for crimbo I started looking for upgrade parts and found two I think you might want yourself, the first is metal driveshafts and the second is the version two esc/receiver combo which runs 2s 7.4v, and if you want to get them just put in the HBX model into Aliexpress and start clicking it took me no more than 5 minutes to find them.

The biggest issue is the little vehicles drag on their bottom axels. The second one looks to have a type of a skid plate that helps it over thing's but not the first. Bigger tires would get them over thing's a lot better.

I have the hbx devastator and it was good.. till the battery stopped working. Can you show how the battery is replaced?? As it is inbuilt... Now that there's lockdown everywhere due to corona virus... My lil truck can't go anywhere....

Just open the receiver box, its placed under the receiver in different compartment, it has a battery plug, so you can change the battery. Just to make it tidy, not really built in

@@robertfanai9066 what battery do you use? Same with the stock? Cause i changed to a lipo 2s 7,4v and the motor wont run, only servos. Im not sure why, could be the problem with the esc

@@fernandyas yup, I used the same battery again after one radio mechanic helped me out.. I don't know how he managed to charge the battery again. Are the motor cables well connected? Mine was not well connected and I had that same problem before as well...

@@robertfanai9066 yes it is well connected, it can run the servo (steering), but the motor gives no response at all
