This is one of those times when I see something mass advertised that makes Jesus their mascot for whatever cultural social trend is happening at the moment, and The He Gets Us Campaign is no different. I didn't say anything last year. This year, I am.

A satirical story to further explain the issue here. You can replace the word "cat" with anything. Like "girl" or a three headed alien. Popular cultural belief about Jesus: "Jesus was a cat. Christians have harmful, toxic beliefs. They don’t understand Jesus was a cat who sees the world just like I do. There’s such a huge difference between Jesus and all these Christians who don’t get Jesus was a cat.” Using words, concepts, and imagery understood by popular culture to represent the cat species, a marketing campaign implicitly proclaims: “Jesus was a cat!” Those in culture who already believed Jesus was a cat see campaign and say, “See! Exactly. Jesus saw the world just like I do. His followers have Him all wrong. I always knew he was a cat. I’m glad someone is trying to save Jesus’s reputation from all those awful Christians.” Christians with a concern that Jesus is being presented to millions as something culture already thinks of Him but isn’t accurate: “Jesus isn’t a cat. Telling culture what they already believe about Jesus and is inaccurate has the potential to harm the public perception of who Jesus really is and create more animosity toward Christians.” Other Christians: “But at least Jesus’s name is in front of people! If we tell them He’s a cat, maybe they’ll get interested in hearing more.” Concerned Christians: “But he’s not a cat. He never was a cat. What if the campaign proclaimed that Jesus was actually the same as Satan? We wouldn’t say that simply having Jesus’s name in front of people is good then. So of course there’s a line to be drawn somewhere on what’s an appropriate way to present him.” Other Christians: “What if God works through the cat campaign and people come to the Lord?” Concerned Christians: “God can work through anything. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be discerning about truth and error on who Jesus is-the New Testament makes that clear. It’s possible that for every person who comes to the Lord, there are 50 more whose understanding of Jesus as a cat hardened their heart further toward biblical truth and toward Christians who might share with them in the future. There's no way of knowing what that ratio actually looks like, but it’s important to bring awareness to the fact that Jesus is NOT a cat because of the possibility.” Meanwhile, on progressive Twitter accounts: “We see right through this campaign trying to make Jesus into a cat. You’re using our terminology and imagery, and we know you’re trying to appeal to us (even when your own people don’t realize it). We still think you’re hateful and toxic.” This is from an article by Greg Koukl from Stand to Reason. Jesus isn't a cat (Social Justice Warrior): www.str.org/w/the-legend-of-the-social-justice-jesus?fbclid=IwAR16y8X4PGbd1NdaeDyCE1bVvHNwh4SvUcNbfP_SeuKATiwKwpu4_TM_9tM

I've been saying this since the campaign first came out.I haven't seen the gospel in any of their ads. I went to their website and entered "salvation" "repentance" "repent" and "born again" into their search. Here's the response: "Sorry nothing matched your search. Jesus may have all the answers, but we’re still working on it" Seems like this should be pretty basic. These ads are purely political and have nothing to do with the Jesus of the Bible apart from loving one another. It tries to share Jesus while deliberately avoiding Christ. The ads are just a stepping stone to try to accomplish precisely one goal: a one world religion that dismisses the deity of Yeshua and ushers in a universal, humanistic system of faith that requires no repentance on our part nor salvation or redemption from Yahweh.

There is a lesson within the act of feet washing. Peter tried to stop Jesus from washing his feet and Jesus said "unless I do this you can have no part of me." Most commentaries go into the idea that this is all about serving one another. While true, there is a more important truth in this story. Here it is... Repentance. This is the opposite of what the He Gets Us campaign is pushing. Our feet are filthy from the roads we've traveled. Jesus must clean us up through sanctification. The roads we walk after Christ are much cleaner. A true follower of Jesus won't keep walking the same roads either. Just ask Rosaria Butterfield and others like her who have walked new roads and had Jesus wash their feet

What orthodox Christian who professes all 3 Creeds; believes in the Gospel (saved by grace alone through faith alone): meets regularly at a local church and is fed the Word (the Bible)... Who doesn't struggle with full obedience to God? If it were not for the Biblical warnings, the smooth and easy path is very tempting indeed. However, one must read the Bible thoroughly to even know the true Jesus and His warnings to not be pulled away.

It is a simple Christian message about loving those who are different from you, loving even your enemy. Melissa is projecting her own misguided interpretation on to the ads, perhaps because the message of the ads confronts her with her own unwillingness to love others who are different from her. She is much more comfortable as a self-ordained heresy hunting Pharisee, always complaining and pointing her finger at the sins of others, even Christians who have a different perspective than her. In her own self-righteous delusions, she is always the one who is in alignment with the Bible, or at least her own little cherry-picked interpretation of the Bible. I have grappled with this movement for a few years now, and I have come to this same conclusion. There’s a key point (or two…) that have been omitted. Jesus wasn’t rejected by the spiritual leaders of His day because He asked questions or preached something different, per se. He was rejected because He is the Son of God, the ONLY ONE who can heal, restore, and save people from their sins. He washed the feet of His DISCIPLES, not everyone He encountered. And He did so for a very specific lesson. Of course He gets us… the book of Hebrews assures us of this, calling Jesus our compassionate High Priest (because He was tempted in all things… AS WE ARE) - and yet, HE DID SO WITHOUT SINNING. THE QUESTION IS: will WE humble OURSELVES and enter into a RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with HIM? The Bible is clear: He came and suffered and died for EVERYONE. AND… not everyone will receive Him and enter into His Fathers house. Read the Bible in context and ask Jesus to help you get this vital truth.

His name has been out there for thousands of years, though, and the ad gave me the serpent in the garden misrepresenting God. Satan is perfectly fine with God being put "out there" if it is the god of this world's imagination.

Right on preacher! When we understand that man is a wretched sinner, who can neither save himself, nor sanctify His life, there is no recourse except the cross of Christ. And I also have problems with the American gospel, which, in my opinion views the sinners pray as an incantation, with no accountability to follow the Only True God after receiving Him. I waa raised in generational witchcraft, yet unaware of this, until the age of 47. I did not get saved that year. This was the year I dedicated myself to " the craft." I did not begin to understand that Jesus came ti seek and save the lost, until the night I became demon- possessed, and had nowhere else to turn. I remember the false doctrine and false Jesus. I remember serving other "gods," meeting in the circle on the Saturday night of the full moon, and going to my church ritual on Sunday. I take the cross, and my salvation very seriously. I have no desire to go back down into the pit. And I know that even Jesus prayed to the Father, " 17 Sanctify them by thy truth; thy word is truth" (John 17:17). After reading the writings of the apostles, it seems they were always correcting and directing the churches by the character, Holy Spirit, and words of, Jesus Christ. Therefore, I cannot claim to follow Jesus; yet, not seek to develop the fruit of His Holy Spirit, and to become more like Him through prayer and His Word. I cannot deny the Only True God, who raised me out of the pit, and made me a child of God. God Bless. 🙂❤️🙏🐑

@@ce3547 your entire logic hinges on “one another” referring specifically to those present. However, that’s just unfortunately bad reading comprehension. “One another” is just the plural generic place holder for how anybody should behave towards another person. It’s like saying this is how you should treat another person, but towards a group. Sure it can be specific towards just the group present, like any generic can be used in that way. But the way to tell if that’s the case is if the immediate context demands it. In this case there is nothing else in the passage to suggest that the generic “one another” refers only to those present. The entire focus of the conversation is on the person of higher station lowering themselves to serve those below. Considering Christ has talked about that very subject before multiple times this is obviously a final object lesson for the disciples on humility. That’s the primary lesson here, not something about brotherly love. Two other examples of verses using “one another” not specifically relating to Christian interpersonal relationships would be Romans 13:8 and Titus 3:3

We're all invited to "The Table.... the Wedding Feast, " but we can not "wear what we wore" when He linvited us! We must be clothed in His righteousness and washed in His blood from our sins. There MUST be repentance and a contrite heart from what offends our holy GOD! Jesus is the One who offers the Remedy to our fallen condition and a bridge to the Father. Jesus indeed is not some "modern day hippie." Love does not leave one in their sin unchecked. LOVE is what brought GOD down to earth, wrapped in the flesh. LOVE is what had Him heal the sick and raise the dead. LOVE is what had Jesus endure that heavy cross on His back, the insults, mockery, spitting in the face, punches in the face, His beard being ripped out, exhaustion, flogging His flesh from His back, and ultimately being nailed to the Cross IN OUR RIGHTFUL PLACE until DEATH so that all who would turn from their sin to follow Him in FAITH, walking in HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, would be SAVED and CHANGED/TRANSFORMED! SOULS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS! ETERNITY IS AT STAKE! It's not about what makes us comfortable but what makes us HOLY and without the HOLINESS of GOD evident in us and our lives we WILL NOT SEE GOD!!!! (Heb.12:14) I think this is another ploy to pervert the word of GOD and cause mass delusion.

Thank you Sister for articulating what I was feeling but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. As true followers of Christ we should discern all teaching through the Holy Spirit. Following Christ is more than Christ getting us, it’s us getting Him in our hearts and following Him. God Bless you for speaking out for us.

I just saw this on Brylan's channel and...mouth drop! Thank you for His Truth that you speak, your conciseness, and discernment. You have really taught me a lot. You help us be brave and show us to have no fear when expressing our love for our Lord. Fear of sharing is one of the hardest things we believers have these days. A paralysis comes over us, where we have to change to fit in. I'm not all the way there yet, but trying to do and say more. I actually think I scared a guy away yesterday with my passion. I didn't convict him on purpose, but I suppose the Holy Spirit did! That's a sign I'm growing in my expression of Faith. 💪🏼🙏🏼🫶🏼

There is absolutely nothing about these ads which condones sin or negates the need for repentance. She sits on her soap-box podium pointing her finger at how unbiblical these other Christians are, all while adorned with her vanity-trapping biblically condemned make--up and jewelry, completely blind to her own scriptural cherry-picking and hypocrisy.

@@InChristIDelight Hi! 😊 DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. @@InChristIDelight Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Diversity, the public version, the one they want everyone to think of, means simply variety of skin pigmentation (or genitals) among a particular cross-section of people. The _actual_ version, is anti-whiteism and misandry. 'Equity' is the adjusting of shares by a central authority so that citizens are made equal. That means appropriate and redistribution of your private property. They don't even have a separate, cleaner, public meaning for that. 'Inclusion' means simply bringing into the fold anyone who had previously been excluded from a social institution. What it _actually_ means, is dominance of the out-group, and your submission.

I had my suspicions about this campaign and thank you for making the whole matter clearer. I absolutely agree with your comments on John 8. Very good exegesis. I do not appreciate it when people quote Jesus as saying to the woman caught in adultery "neither do I condemn you..." and leave it at that. They don't quote the "go and sin no more" message. Also since the O.T. law required two or more witnesses, and all the witnesses were gone, He could not under the law(!) condemn her. Jesus loved all of the Bible whereas humans want to only take bits and pieces to make it more palatable as you pointed out so well. ❤

I agree with you, Melissa, and thank you for speaking out. Another probem is we humans have also made his His salvation in our image. People die and face Him. Not their image of Him and face His wrath. God has His conditions of salvation and man has no say in how this happens. We humans are so prideful to think we can take over Gods salvation and make it to our liking. Well, thats not gonna work. Salvation belongs to the Lord! As you stated, we can only come humbled and repentant before him, trusting in Jesus, in who He is, not what we want Him to be.

You explained my thoughts and feelings on these ads perfectly, Melissa. I can only hope and pray for the right words to speak into people that want to buy into the counterfeit "He Gets Us" Jesus (which aligns closely with Unitarian Universalism) in exchange for the true, living, redeeming Jesus. "For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. As one of the Jesus People from 1973, I see your observations as spot-on. Unfortunately, even we did not truly understand the prison that sin is, and its origins. In our baby-milk faith, we saw the blessing of the Baptism in Holy Ghost Fire as enough, and we used it as an excuse not to know. So that when it came time to know, the knowledge was devastating for some of us. Of course not all have an identical walk with the Lord; some crosses require more strength than others to bear. It's always harder to carry when you look down & realize you're still carrying the hammer that you used to nail our Lord to the Cross.

This is what I keep telling people. They don't have the full Gospel ANYWHERE on their website or in their campaigns. There is NO mention of repentance, believing in Jesus Christ as the resurrected Son of God so we can be saved from the wrath of God, nothing. I was amazed at the number of people in my circle that were "glad to hear the name of Jesus spoken on tv", as if this deceptive ad campaign has anything to do with actual salvation. One thing Jesus said about the end times was, "do not be deceived". We're starting to see why.
