I gave a guy $20 at a gas station because he said he was on his way to work and said he left his wallet at home and he looked decent and seemed sincere and I would hope that if I was in that situation of needing gas to get to work that someone would help me, well I watched him pump gas go in and pay and he came out with 3 packs of cigs and a couple pops, learned my lesson!

I had to do this once.. I was in between jobs, needed money to at least get to work by bus for the first week.. Panhandled in the walmart parking lot and left after I had enough for the bus for the week. I didn't even want to stay longer to have enough to buy something to eat. It's embarassing. But some people actually have no one to help them.

I got scammed with a " homeless person " everyday after work I'd give him 3$ EVERY DAY MON-fri found out 1 month later. He has a wife, 2016 impala, nice house, and a job! He has observed people who choose homelessness but it's not our place to harass them.

I once saw a guy pan handling on my way to work & I didn't think much of it but when I was going home, this same guy was leaving and climbed into a brand new pickup truck with the dealer tag still in the window and drove off. Sheesh. Not all people who pan handle are scammers but this guy I saw definitely was a scammer.

Problem that is growing in Colorado is aggressive panhandling whereas the moron will come right up to a car and demand money for pot. Had that happen to me once dude was all up in my window. Needless to say I pulled out my gun and flashed it at him hence he backed away quickly. I called Denver P.D. and he was arrested for having cocaine in his procession.

In the town where I live, they passed a law which has all but gotten rid of the panhandlers. If YOU are caught giving ANYTHING to a panhandler, by the police, YOU are given a ticket for $100.00. People have quit giving the panhandlers money and they have basically moved on.

They have to spend the money on something, at least it's not drugs or alcohol. You need to worry about your own life and quit worrying about the panhandling it's not affecting you personally. I’m not fond of panhandlers, I avoid making eye contact with them, and usually avoid approaching too close. But the idea of filming them and dragging their reputation through the mud via social media seems morally bankrupt. Like you said they’re not breaking any laws but you obviously have your ‘own’ moral issue with them. The public will decide if they deserve a hand out or not. If you think these panhandlers represent what’s most wrong with this world than you need to seriously redefine your priorities.

I was homeless. I never took a handout from anyone except to visit the food bank once a week. I worked my ass off and now I own my own home and have a good life. I guess I should have thought of sitting on my ass holding a sign instead of digging those trenches for a local contractor.

Oh, I am disabled vet spent 7 years in the NAVY on submarines I got hurt bad and lot use of both my legs. I went from 48 k to 25 k. I scrape by every month. But I will not do that until I almost need to . I collect bottles and cans . Our great goverment does not care for us very well.

A little advice... Don't ever EVER fuck with anyone group of people that have either train tracks tattoos or on their signs. These people are straight up freight train riders and know how to disappear quickly. Notice how his sign never said homeless but you just assume it anyway? I used to travel on freights back in the day and do the same thing (which is prolly why you never seen that guy before, hence passing thru) and if you're addicted to smoking you're going to smoke regardless. I would get off a train and if I was out of rollies (bugler tobacco) I would hit ashtrays. That being said you would get kicked down smokes and beer and all types of shit all the time while flying signs. Sometimes we would fly a sign and get a motel for the night so we could shower and wash our clothes. Some of these people are real transients who choose not to look like bag ladies. Your concept on what homeless/transients are supposed to look like and then judge everyone else on that concept and come to the conclusion that their lying is fucked up. But then again you live WAY WAY upstate in Michigan and prolly not used to seeing people live like that. Plus the unemployment rate in Michigan is really really bad and farther north it gets worse. Also there are no real train yards/switch yards or crew changes that far north. (Ann Arbor I've hopped out of but never up north)
