Some of them are actually real, but they change the story. The light bulb one is true, but it was more true with glass eating. Brian (Scam Nation/Modern Rogue) had an episode on glass eating and certain glass you cannot do it with because of the powder used on the glass. Of the guy who drowned after trying to destroy a hornet nest then jumping in a pool.

The original Demon Core story is one of the scariest things to me. Invisible death rays just killing your cells to the point that they will not reproduce while still alive and slowly dying is pure horror. Little Ball of Death is what it is.
@Yezpahr
@Yezpahr 4 ай бұрын
Purely for clarification purposes: Although radiation is invisible most of the times, the core flashed bright blue because the radiation exceeded the speed of light in its medium and thus produced cherenkov radiation. This visible horror is added on top of the invisible horror. There was no doubt in their minds what had just happened and they had zero hope from that moment onwards.

@@Yezpahr so it flashed a color (visible light) because it's going faster than the speed of light in that medium? But that visible light was going through the same medium so how was it going faster than itself?

Radiation is invisible, what the demon core did was fission and was exploding atoms and definitely put off visible energy. Blue light beams flashed out cherenkov radiation

"Light slows down to 75 percent of its normal speed when it travels through water. This allows the particles emitted from nuclear fuel to move faster than light in water. As these charged particles disrupt water molecules in their path, light particles, known as photons, are released - creating a visible “shockwave” of blue or violet light." It must be submerged in water for this to happen.

Spike TV was a wild time, Deadliest Warrior, Bar Rescue, Ink Master, Auction Hunters, 1000 Ways To Die, etc... sadly I think 1000 Ways To Die is one of the few shows from Spike TV that doesn't air re-runs, or continue the series anywhere now. @@SanityTV_Last_Sane_Man_Alive I mean - on its own it was not a nuclear weapon....but assembled into a device correctly and it very much could have been used as a atomic bomb. The demon core was essentially identical to the other plutonium implosion bomb cores at the time. Infact - it was going to be used in what could have been a third atomic bomb that would have been dropped on japan. In light of the war ending and these criticality incidents occuring in post war research however - it was melted back down into the existing plutonium stockpile that was used to make the plutonium cores for future nuclear weapons and tests.
