TO JAMES and Maren, they aren't any different from other heterosexual couples. But other people have often mistaken them for just friends because of the way they look. 22-year-old James, who previously identified as gay, is a feminine-presenting man, whilst Maren, 20, is a masculine-presenting woman. Growing up, James came out as gay to his friends and family because it was "easier". Maren, who describes herself as bisexual, had only dated women before she met James over TikTok and the two hit it off instantly. When they shared their relationship online, James and Maren faced a lot of judgement as people struggled to comprehend their relationship. But the couple couldn't care less about what others say.

My cousins relationships used to exactly like this one. It was new and unusual. They got married and had children. On their wedding day they decided to wear the traditional dress for the women and suit for the man only for their children. I’m more interested in finding out if they’re still together considering their _personalties_ are so different. He seems very extroverted and she seems very introverted. He’s very chatty and she’s more reserved. His clothing style is very urban while hers is very suburban. I’m having a hard time seeing them having enough in common to not get on each other’s nerves. It’s no different than a “straight” relationship. It’s just the woman is masculine and the man is feminine. It’s “usually” flipped..the woman is typical fem and the man masculine. I'm 5'10 and my boyfriend is 5'5. The whole "We don't look how they expect us to look" is something we are faced with constantly. For example, we were staying at a hotel the other night and a guy at the counter looked at us and asked my boyfriend how it feels dating a woman taller than him. He responded "Damn good." Love is not one size fits all. I commend this couple for embracing and sharing their relationship. They look happier than most "normal" couples I know and I hate even using the word normal. Yup! It really does exist. We once live in a townhouse apartment where the old landlady lives closeby with her stay-in gardener and housekeeper. The gardener is a very masculine woman and the housekeeper is a very feminine man. They are married to each other, and when we paid the landlady a visit years after we moved out, the couple were still happily together and had adopted a son.
