Blue devil,kw, bars That's the order I have heard is best from other mechanics I work with. I have actually tried bars once and it helped slightly seal.

Which would you recommend (if any) for an engine small puff of white smoke during startup and guess away runs fine after a few seconds and then when I pull the spark plugs I noticed one of the is more fouled up than the others (small amount of coolant collecting into one of the cylinders)

I used K&W head,It worked I took out the thermostat first though.

Today I used K&W Fiberlock ($34.00 at Autozone) on a vehicle with leaking, POURING freeze plug between engine and transmission. Mechanic quoted 300 to 500 to fix. Couldn't drive 10 miles. The K&W stopped the leak in 15 minutes. I don't care if it stops up the heater core. I can fix that later.

K-seal worked in my bmw 1996 520i e34. Symptomps: white smoke, not steam, sweet oodour. No oil water mixing Cause: Coolant in combustion chamber .

I've never used blue devil myself, but heard good things about it. The product I've used and other mechanics have used and has worked well is Steel seal. It works well. It also depends on how bad the head gasket is blown. All these sealers mainly work on small head gasket leaks. They wont work on a really bad blown head gasket,or for a long time . Thanks

@@Tahsin_Hussain Steel seal is a bottle of sealer that helps seal off any small holes where coolant may leak out. It is simple to use, read the directions on the bottle for exact, but pour in radiator,crank up car, wait about 20-30 minutes, shut off car and I believe it's good to go from that point.

@@Tahsin_Hussain yes I believe it does and in that case I would drain out all coolant, add distilled water only to almost fill in the radiator, then pour steel seal in

2007 Honda Civic. 1.8 lt. 4 cyl. November 1st 2018, I got a broken head gasket. I used k& w. It worked for me. No problems for 2.5 years. Did not completely seal head gasket, because I was adding coolant a little each week due to hose leak also .About 6oz per week. Oil stayed clean, so I was satisfied. My mileage was still the same. 350 miles per tank I made the mistake, though, by using a different brand. I should have bought another bottle of K & W and kept using it. But sooner or later you're radiator will get clogged at the bottom, mine did. so I would suggest staying with the same product over and over until you are satisfied. I had no problem with thermostat water pump

Bars BHG sealer didnt work on my ford freestar. I did it 2x & im still overheating. Recently i tried bars head gasket sealant 20 oz. Bottle & it looked promising but i think i didnt let my car sit for the 12-24 hours as directed so i may give it another try.

If i have milky oil- coolant entering oil, i know sodium silica containing products shouldnt be used as it can lock up the engine. Is there anything i can use?

@@triggeredfeminist3364 mechanics hate it. I think it clogs up your system. Best thing is probably to find ways to keep your engine cool and coolant topped off until you can get head gasket replaced or replace the car. I got a different car.

'85 Toyota PU 22R with 160,000mi. Replaced Radiator. After 2000mi started to get overheating issues when driving at 20mph but not at 50+mph. All youtube videos and mech friends said it was blown head gasket. Used Blue Devil following instructions on bottle which said to just pour it in with existing antifreeze (said nothing about removing thermostat) and let idle 45min. After 15min at idle engine began to overheat into Red Zone! Turn off engine. Pulled out old thermostat after noticing that top radiator hose was hot while bottom hose was cold. Thermo was totally covered with hard white crap. Also top of radiator had the same hard white crap. Installed top hose without thermostat after doing a HD Flush with Prestone chemical additive. Now the engine is bubbling through radiator cap like crazy and over heats in just a few minutes!!Before selling my PU to the junk yard does anyone have any suggestion on another product that might really work? Before the motor ran great with lots of power.

I had an 85 Toyota PU with 22R engine. Apparently, they had a known problem with the timing chain guide/tensioner that was made of plastic. The timing chain guide would break and the chain would rub on the water pump housing at startup. You could hear a slight chain rattling sound when you first start the engine. I thought I had a blown head gasket, installed a new head gasket but still had the coolant in the oil problem Finally my dad took the water pump housing to work and had it dye-penetrant checked for cracks and sure enough, there was a crack that you would never have known was there. It was aluminum so he had his shop weld the crack and that was the end of that. I got a new chain tensioner/guide and never had a problem after that. That may or may not be your problem but thought I would mention it.

@@gulfsurfco I replaced my water pump, removed thermostat and put only water in the system. Bought 2 bottles of Steel Seal $130! Engine alot cooler but after 1hr it began overheating . Now looking for another product that will get the job done. The engine runs great with real torque and No Leaks after 150,000 miles.

@@MartinSage you have to let it run longer when its bad and some of those sealants require that you run the heat all the way up and run the car for 30 to 40. Let it cool down and run the heat and fan all the way up again for bout 20/40 minutes. You have to let it cool down completely before doing it again. Also once you've done the process. Leave the car alone for 24 hours then put in the correct anti-freeze.

That's what happened to me, checked everything fluid wise, took some sniffs of exhaust from cold to warm. No metal flakes in the coolant, no warning at all. Then bam, 3 weeks later a mild overheat and sure enough, blown head gasket. So I re sealed it and dumped it onto an unsuspecting title maxx.

@@adamsangels9874 any of them carry that chance the liquid glass and blue devil are the safest options next to proper repair. Anything metal based is a horrible idea ive been a automotive tech for 17 years and seen the damage first hand it might limp you home but it will cost you alot more in the end. Some whops won't even touch a car with it in the system.

I was right. The year 2000 stepdad fixed my Geo Storm that was overheating and turned off half smoked and it still worked.Bar’s cannot even fix a tiny gasket leak JUNK.

You know It's a bunch of bs when they have 4 different head gasket products that range from 25-100$.You look at the cheapest bottle which is actually like $25 at Walmart and it says That it is so fantastic and the number one product and then you buy the other ones that are completely different formulas and they make the same claim. Blue Devil is like window washing fluid that turns into a weak form of concrete and it actually works as advertised unless you're blowing gas from the combustion chamber into the radiator if that's your fault then good luck 👍🏻 Hope it's one cylinder and if it is remove the spark plug and run it as instructed. That allows the vast majority of pressure too escape whilst the formula tries too patch the hole.

If you got 1500-2000 to spend on your car then do it i had 5 mechanics tell me to use k seal and the car is not worth fixing with my miles the part is cheap but labor is what gets you and now today with covid price went up at shops
