In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart continue the renovations in one of their chateau bedrooms. Patrick creates a cover for an old headboard that they brought with them from the states. They also make a gift to give to friends Jane and Tony for a trip to Lignières, France when they visit their local Marché de Noël (Christmas Market).

I think the fabric on the headboard looks really nice against the wall paper. Patrick you make making a bow look so easy. It must be so nice looking at Christmas decorations in France.

The "recycle-reuse" idea of the headboard is a great idea until, or if, you find something you like better. My Mom, a decorator, told me that checks OR plaid - not both - would work beautifully with patterns of the same color. So, I think the headboard that Patrick recovered should work great with Stuart's wallpaper. Love the DIY mistletoe gift/decor!

Good idea Patrick, I used to make material covers for the headboards to match curtains whenever I changed the decor in bedrooms, the one you made for the guest room is lovely and a good match. Patrick, the fabric looks great on the headboard and blends well with the wallpaper. I understand the shape of the headboard is more contemporary, but it is a temporary measure until you find a headboard from the chateau timeframe. You did a wonderful job upholstering the headboard. The mistletoe wreath you made for Tony and Jane is really beautiful and I must try my hand at crafting items like that. The town looked lovely and was a fun outing. I dont hate the check. I think that it tones down the formality of the room just a touch, but I dont think that is a bad thing. I think that with other linens it will be a nice visual break, too. And I think that it brings some charm to the room. I think you did a nice job in that choice! :-)

I love the coordinating fabric of the headboard with the wallpaper. I see some French country in the making. Later on you could even pad and tuft it if you wanted to. I wish we had Christmas markets in the US. They're so charming. Thank you once again.

I love the mistletoe decoration. I usually do small ones , but I love the large presentation. I will tell my guests To expect bigger kisses and generous hugs ! Everything looks beautiful, and I like the fabric for the headboard. It matches wallpaper beautifully and adds some whimsy. Suit yourselves first and have fun. Ignore the occasional grinch .

Patrick (Hi) my mom would reupholster a lot of antique furniture. She created a sack that was simple it had a thick wire sewn into the top hem (a cord was added to slip on the wrist). She wore it on her less dominant hand, folded the upper hem snug against the furniture, popped off the nail heads. They fell into the pouch/sack. No need to stop and put the nail heads away. I still have it

I love the pink checked gingham for the headboard! It looks lovely against the wallpaper, and goes beautifully, I think. Patterns don’t have to be matchy- matchy as long as the colours are in the same family. Patrick- great job sewing, and making the festive mistletoe. You are very crafty! 😉

I love the headboard fabric! Love to hear you may use more. Ticking (if you could find the color) goes well as does toile (sp?). Gingham has always been a favorite of mine. When I subscribed to bunches of design magazines, I would play a game. Where would I find the gingham? Because every magazine had some in the articles or ads. Tiny checks to enormous buffalo plaids. It was there! Think I’ll like the room!

However, today I had to go to Costco to get the Rib Roast for Christmas dinner. Max and I are hosting his entire family this year, we’ll total 12 people. So it was a BIG roast! Just a suggestion for your mistletoe decoration....put right sides together and cut from open side at a 45 degree angle for the v shape. Two long and two short ones.

Only 1 million furniture tacks in that headboard! Looks like they came out easily! I love the Christmas trees on the bows but the soldier candle holder with the green hat is fabulous!!! The mistletoe arrangement is a sweet gift, I know Jane will love it!

Hope you feature more of the chateau's Christmas trees - the two I've seen are lovely. There may even be more than two and equally attractive decorations like the stairway garland. More images of the decorations will add to many people's holiday celebrations.

We just have two trees, and I think we have shown all that we were able to decorate. Remember that many rooms are unused during the cold months since it is too expensive to heat the entire chateau. Thanks!

The bedhead looked lovely against the floral wallpaper. I love a gingham check! I love how you sewed those seems without pins!! I hate pinning. If I have 'straight' seems, I 'risk it' and go no pinning too. My quilting teacher used to have cows when she saw me do it in class! She also used to nearly pass out, when I would cut my fabric up in the air, instead of laying it down. I told her that it comes from years of not having enough room to spread out and cut fabric laying down. I got really good at doing it vertically. Mind you, I do envy you, your huge dinning room table for cutting. I think you did a great job. And I had to laugh at the little furry supervisors trotting around in the background, observing everything you did, until one laid their head on your lap for attention.
