Headlamp Replacement - 2004 Honda Civic (7th Gen) - Headlight Assembly Replacement Steps

This 2004 Honda Civic serves as a great and inexpensive commuter car for a family member. However, the original headlights were getting pretty foggy, even after a light attempt at cleaning them up. With new assemblies being less than $80, it was decided to go ahead and swap them out.
We brought the camera along and show what it took to get these swapped out. This included pre-checking the alignment, and getting a base headlight alignment done after install. (We note in the video, but you may need to have your new headlamps checked for alignment at a local shop to ensure you meet your local regulations - plus headlights out of alignment can blind oncoming traffic or make your visibility worse than with fogged up lights.)
We will keep sharing more routine repair and maintenance videos, as it's a big part of our recent "task list" in the shop. We'll be back on restoration stuff soon!

You're right about the cost of replacing vs the effort of cleaning. Thank you for actually showing all the steps and leaving enough evidence for me to know which way the foam went when I duct taped it back onto the impact bar!

I am half way through this video and i like it so laid back , that bolt was easy oh its broken that's why ,if that was me it would be a case of I don't believe it that F***ing bolt is broken lol

I didn't do the actual lamp removal on this video, but talked about it at the start - if you want to just swap a bulb, you should be able to do it without removing the assemblies. You may need to remove the battery though to gain access on that side.

This one is a value package dx sedan. So I think the lights are different model numbers for coupe vs sedan so good to double check fitment.

I bought the $114 ones off amz + the $6 (3 yr) warranty. We have a ‘05 civic. How much should we expect for install? 😁 No way in heck can myself or fam do all this. Should we bring it to Goodyear or Honda service?

Fortunately if you are just replacing a bulb you don't need to do all this, they are accessible with the headlight assemblies in the car. But replacing the assemblies, yep, bumper cover gotta come off...

This isn't something that normally gets replaced during the life of a vehicle unless it is in an accident. Considering what I've had to do to get to things that actually die, like starters, this was fairly simple. Just lots of plastic bits.
