I feel ur pain bro...had it on the integra to... chronic problem with the Honda/Acuras...at least the engines last for forever

@@VortexGarage thank you for your help, it was that strange side vent on the left side, i still dont understand how it was the cause of the leak, or how the water was flowing in, but using some RTV sealant seems to have solved the issue

just an update, ended up being the tailight housing just below the light. it is completely rotted out and holes have now formed....this will be a fun fix lol

@@Jschmidy77 lol yeah man same.... i have a 02 Acura RSX-S and the trunk leaked it would fill up with water in the back just like this civic..... now i have a 2012 civic Si and it also leaks somewhere.... no where near as bad as my Acura did but it for sure leaks somewhere.... also have a leak that is getting inside the car in the back seat area on the floor which is causing mold on the floor if i dont clean the carpet enough... been pissing me off cause its not that old of a car but its a typical honda / acura thing :(

Very true on that! I thought I covered it slightly as I did add a bit of RTV on the edges, but yeah I didn't remove these and inspect or replace anything behind the assemblies. From what I gather, leaks on these cars are either the lights or the seam sealer, with the other things all following in terms of how often it's the case.

It may not be quite as permanent a fix - if you cover the existing sealer that has been chipping off, it's possible that more will lift, causing your new sealer to not adhere long-term. It may not lift, but if it does you'll need to do it a second time. Scraping the old gets it out of the equation and helps ensure best adherence of the new sealer.

if you do that you are risking rust

If you are referring to holes in the trunk weatherstripping seal, if they appear perfectly round and are somewhat evenly or routinely placed on the seal, they're most likely meant to be there, as air-escape holes for the seal itself. Unfortunately it's hard to say exactly what the cause of your leak would be. That said, you noted you took this to a mechanic - if you are paying the mechanic for diagnosis, I think that mechanic should be determining the cause not just stating what it isn't. One way this can be done, is to actually get in the trunk with it closed (probably need to dry it out first or someone's laying in the wet) and with a strong flashlight and the car outside in the rain, or with someone pouring a constant stream of water from a hose, you look all around to find the source of the leak from inside the trunk. It can be a bit of a pain - especially if the trunk is wet, but if you aren't sure where it is, that's really the only way to fully diagnose it. Doing that, or having the mechanic do similar, should pinpoint where the leak is on your Accord. Best of luck!

It comes down to assy line speed. Been on many Honda assy lines from lawn mower to MC And Auto in Japan, Canada and the USA They aint slow and are intense. Never the less they are good paying jobs and have bennefits. Spin off from these mobs (auto) was 7 people. But if they can save 0.57 $ like GM did with the ChevyCruise,Pontiac,Saturn and Cobalt, kill a lot of folks, then cover it up with a modified detent in the switch costing. YES.$$$0. 57$$$ Cents and using the original part number to hide it. Do U think they they give a damn. I'm surprised with Honda's not taking care of this on the assembly line usually they do with this stuff or did But effin trunk leaks even on on oder vehicle that ARE Preventable with an over application wont hurt. It wouldn't be ugly as its under the trunk lid.Everyone thst experinces this should write the a letter and spell out their disease and many are long term Honda or have multiple Honda products. Nuff said. I Still am a fanatical Honda Dude. So they'll get letter. VOLUME DICTATES ACTION! BTW im 60 years at working on Hondas, started at 12. Cant go without my 2010 Fury and its simple to maintain. Old school cables. fixed injection mapping without o2 sensor(s). Manual valve lash adjustment. On my 4th Oddy. They don't break if you know how to service them (really AT probs long gone). Got an AT Honda use their fluid fluid don't just do a 30 K MILE (48 K KM) ATF fluid change change it all out without flush. No matter what your OEM AT, Or CVT etc use only your brands ATF. THEY MADE IT NOT THE AFTER MARKET

@@mooglemy3813 ok, but this problem is caused by cheap seals on the body of this car, and for me means a cheap assembly work. I've owned Toyotas, Nissans, Kias and Subarus and never got a problem like this, HONDA NEVER AGAIN.

@@deruko1251 Remember what I’m saying, Kia is the new Honda, I’ve owned a 2016 Soul Base who had 250,000 miles on it, trade it for a 2020 model and also I has my old 2002 Sentra with 470,000 miles and still going strong.
