Headseeker Is NOT What You Think On Outbreak Perfected

In today's video we quickly go over whether Headseeker is worth it all in PvE for Outbreak Perfected, since as of today the weapon is fully craftable with every single trait and intrinsic!

I wasn't expecting much from Headseeker and sadly my suspicions were made reality, all in all it's a bit of a mid perk that's only really suitable in PvP. Currently it's very difficult to test whether the Nanites DO in fact count as body shot damage and thus amplify the headshot damage because of how the Nanites behave in the first place, though in the tests I did it does appear to improve the damage slight, but again this could be due to Nanite RNG. As I mentioned, now that Outbreak is fully craftable I would highly recommend having 2 rolls, one with Rapid Hit and reload perks for general play and another with Extended Mag and Rewind Rounds for boss and emergency DPS scenarios. Headseeker does proc off nanites and there's a really easy way to test. Find a group of 2 enemies close to each other and one further away. Precision kill one of the enemies in the group, then watch the headshot damage against the lone target increase when the nanites latch to the second target in the group.

@@satoru5791 that... depends on a few factors. Rewind Rounds is only better if headseeker needs to reload. There's a certain prismatic fragment I've got my eyes on and depending on its ICD and some exotic class item synergies it could theoretically autoload outbreak fast enough to not need rewind rounds for an infinite mag, while outputting enough damage on the side to justify the downtime required to proc it.

@@life-destiny1196 both the warlock and hunter prismatic grenades would be best, mainly because you want to be transcending for its damage boost anyway so you don’t really have other options

I have been wondering whether this would be worth getting. Rewind rounds just feels so nice on outbreak especially since the nanites proc rewind rounds.

Have you tried using Outbreak with the strand auto load grapple? The downtime between firing is not as big as a reload, and if headseeker does net more damage, it could be worth considering using the grapple as a pseudo rewind round alternative. Love your content, keep up the amazing work!

I know its not the meta option but it would have been nice to know for certain if it works. I guess the best way to test this is just do like 15 or so templar tests with multiple rolls. and if headseeker always edges out outlaw or rapid hit then we know for sure but I dont know if even 15 tests is enough to detect a 7% difference. Or if its even worth the time since we know rewind is just the best option. BUT in case headseeker gets a PvE buff it would be nice to know.

Honestly, I find Rewind Rounds great for general use as well. While Rapid Hit is great, having Rewind Rounds all the time is super helpful in ad-clear AND boss DPS/high health targets. I recommend people to craft a Rewind Round Outbreak and run around with it. You won’t be disappointed as the perk is perfect for everything. I will admit…it’s a little too good for everything especially as a Kinetic Weapon. I have the feeling Bungie may nerf Rewind on Outbreak a little while after Final Shape. It’s a skeleton key at the moment.

Wouldn't it be worth doing a few rounds of Templar with each perk and averaging the damage numbers? The data isn't super useful unless you run repeats

i mean, max deamage buff on outbreak is 450% right? headseaker should break that limit real questions are: when 6 guys are shooting boss does every nanite counts as body deamage to all players? can you keep max buff while reloading (RoF/ hunters doge/ grapple reload) is additional buff worth more reloading?

The real question is appended or extended mag? How does that extra burst scale over several activations of rewind rounds and is it worth the hit on reload speed?

The damage IS from headseeker, you can actually see the last 2 burst of dps test doing different famage, after that period of time we can assume that the total nanites create are the same, the "randomness" can be in a shot window of time, better testing would be with 6 people shooting, comparing max damage to max damage

Wait couldn't you have tested the "if" portion of Headseeker by just landing a precision kill within a group of ads and then getting some precision hits on whichever enemies are not targeted by the nanites? They can only hit so many targets before they run out, at which point you have 0.55 seconds to land a precision hit on a fresh target to see if the buff is active.

Here's the real question: Extended Mag, Appended Mag, or Flared Magwell? Extended obviously doesn't have a downside when you're in a Lunafaction well, but 9 out of 10 emergency DPS situations, the well is either over or on it's way out. Plus, with the Nanites counting for Rewind, you're almost always being gatekept by the proc cap rather than running out of rounds. So the question becomes, which one strikes the best balance between procs and reload speed?

Is there any possibility to test outbreak in a raid setting for emergency dps ? What is the total damage with 5/6 people firing it ?

total deamage is infinite since we have infinite primary ammo
