Major geophysical events such as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes can occur with little or no warning and have catastrophic effects.
This lecture will consider the health impacts of these natural disasters and how best to minimise them.
Trauma often dominates the first days after the initial event but predicting the medium-term effects such as infectious diseases can head off predictable secondary health disasters over the medium and long term.
This lecture was recorded by Sir Chris Whitty on 20th February 2024 at Barnard's Inn Hall, London
Chris was Gresham Professor of Physic at Gresham College from 2018 to 2022, and Visiting Professor of Public Health 2015-2018 and again since 2022.
He is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for England and the UK Government's Chief Medical Adviser.

discount culture would suggest you get what you pay for. not so....where aid and disaster relief is concerned. who helps japan? you'd think america would chip in. who helps america? it's perverse to think various nations would have various slates to settle if they have various "natural" disasters to deal with. almost has you thinking just as turkey finds a way out of it's miseries re: the above-mentioned list of woe it, surprisingly, has another natural disaster to deal with. in comparison our own nation should be on an even keel. would be of interest to note how the UK fares...and if it, laughingly, finds itself saddled with a disaster relief debt(?) ....would we ever dare suggest "natural" disasters can be anything but.........?

Vote Labour party win UK general election in 2024. Morphine it 4 hours 4 times a day Thomas elderly woman Age 88 do it by tea spoon 🥄. As Nurse 8 months she above Age 87. She in hospital bed in my living room. Did perfect health yes for 87 years Told Italy the truth. I am Italian citizen nurse. Grazie England London Britain.
