Easy Vegan Cheese Recipe || Homemade Vegan Cheese No Nuts Or Agar Needed
Welcome back to Health Origins! Join me, Inga from Health Origins, as I show you how to make a delicious mozzarella-style vegan cheese using simple ingredients like potatoes, coconut cream, and nutritional yeast. This cheese is free from any weird additives or gums, making it a healthy and tasty alternative. Follow along with my easy-to-follow recipe and enjoy this versatile cheese on pizzas, in wraps, sandwiches, or any dish where you'd use traditional mozzarella.
▶️ Ingredients
2 large boiled/steamed potatoes
1/2 cup coconut cream (from the top of coconut milk tin)
3-4 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
1 tsp onion powder
1 1/4 tsp sea salt
1 garlic clove OR 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp + 1 tsp white wine vinegar OR apple cider vinegar
4 Tbsp potato/corn/tapioca/arrowroot starch
1 cup potato boil water OR regular water
This cheese gets firmer and better with age - best after 2-3 days in the fridge and will last for 7-10 days. It's perfect and melty for pizza or cheese toasties - you need this in your life!

You are such a sweet and kind person, excellent work, keep going!!! i ate nuts and a litlle oil from time to time, but when i put coconut (it's in its name.....coco nut) in my diet colesterol went up high, now i avoid all nuts, all fats. Fats must be avoided from people with heart diseases.

correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't coconut milk/fat be worse than nuts for unhealthy fat content?

I think the quantity of fat matters - most vegan cheeses are made purely from nuts, where's in this recipe there's only 1/2 cup of coconut milk/cream per recipe, so when you have a slice of the cheese, it's not too much fat per slice compared with other nut based cheeses.

Highly recommend trying LACTIC ACID.. it is VEGAN.. but it is what cheese makers use to make thier cheeses tangy... ive not used it yet but have been gathering ideas as this is how i ended here looking at your video... Thank You. For sharing your ideas and recipies. 😊 👌

Must try, looks good! I have a damaged wrist and whisking is painful... or messy when I try do it left handed, so I've taken to steaming my cheezes in the instant pot in a silicone pan. Works great, plus no crusty pans and less cleanup mess!

@@HealthOrigins Usually around 1/2 hour... though that may be overkill, I just wanted to be sure the starches were cooked and set. If you do try it, lay a cover over the top of the pan... a piece of foil or lid of some sort, to keep the condensation from dripping down onto the surface. The cheeze may still seem soft when you remove it, so it's important to refrigerate for at least a few hours before cutting. I have a little maybe 5-6 inch round silicone pan that makes a perfect cheese wheel. It gets a lot of use because I love experimenting with all different WFPB "cheeze" ingredients, especially fermented ones because their taste can be as variable as the variety of dairy cheese! I never use commercial starters but use the brine and solids from home fermented veggies or rejuvelac, also yogurt, miso, fermented tofu, natto, etc., and combinations of, which always makes for a taste adventure! (Fermented roasted red peppers are my favorite!) The color variations are certainly interesting too, but some of the "ugliest" taste the best, like the green cashew-spinach-basil! LOL!

Looks really good but I was wondering if there is any flavor from the coconut cream? I've made cheese sauce with coconut milk and the coconut flavor is a little overpowering for me.

Of course it is cheese, vegan cheese - it refers to the taste and texture people know 🙂 Last time I checked, dairy did not own the patent rights to the word 'cheese' 😁
