How to properly prune this plant. Came home after 1 week of vacation and found lots of the leaves on the floor and some branches were dry and dead so I had to clean it up a bit and water it. 3 days back and it already looks better but I’ve had it for a month and I want to fertilize it in the hopes that it will look even peppier. Please recommend natural food and fertilizer for this plant. Possibly send links of the ones you had in your video.

@mochiteoyohtica2629, I don't have a video on giving a plant a bath, but that's a great idea, so I've put it on the production schedule. In the meantime, you want to rinse the plant with warm water. Rinsing with a hand sprayer at the sink or in the bathtub works well, as this allows for rinsing all areas of the plant. Make sure to rinse the underside of leaves, too, and inside areas where leaves have yet to unfurl.

I’ve had mine for several months, it’s wintertime (I’m in zone 9, Las Vegas, NV) here and I haven’t had any blooms 😭 I’m hoping to find some tips from this lovely video

Liza Manelli, The video should help with care. As I believe I mention, they are sporadic in flowering, but if you follow growing tips, that will help. They require good lighting to flower. You will likely get blooms come spring.

Help, I’m having problems with my goldfish. I’m losing lots of leaves and have some black leaves. I have it in my front room near windows but right next to a glass cabinet with full spec lights. I recently switched the soil out that was pretty wet.

Sarah Jones, It may be that the plant has root rot. It will lose leaves if that has occurred, and it could have occurred when the soil was very wet. Is it still losing leaves?

I just got one without knowing much about it! The seller labeled it as a goldfish plant and the leaf shape and color is similar and I can see where the flowers are budding, but the leafs almost look fuzzy? Why would it do this? There’s no pests so I’m confused. Thanks!

Thank you for all your information ! 💞💞💞 I just bought one and the water ran right thru it . I was told she didn't need transplanting right away . I'm not sure if that's true , unless they like to be root bound ?

Breezy Blessings, sorry for the delay. If water is running right through, you might have wanted to repot. They like to be somewhat potbound, but still need watering. Another thing that happens is that fissures build up in the soil and the water runs right through. Sergio Schiavone, yes, gold fish plant should do well in a self-watering pot, providing it is the correct size pot, meaning, not too big of a pot and the soil doesn't remain soggy. When you repot, you should have 2/3 to 1/3 pot in terms of the overall ratio. So more plant on top than pot below. Sara Loiacono, this plant can be grown outdoors during the summer months when it is warm outside. Just put in dappled sunlight or bright shade. Not in direct sun.

Betty Parker, ask at your local nursery. If they don't have any they may be able to order some. That is often the best way, as you can see the plant and make sure it's healthy before buying. You can also sometimes find them online.

Antonella Nucci, Complete leaf loss is not a good sign, as plants need some leaves to photosynthesize. It would also be good to figure out what happened. How long have you had the plant? Did you forget to water it? Or overwater it?

@@HealthyHouseplants I've had it for almost a month, it was still in the nursery pot that I got her in and I guess it had a soil mixture that doesn't dry at all so it was getting too much water, I trimmed and changed soil hoping to save her but idk if she will live

@@antonellanucci6208, Okay, yes, that sounds like root rot. She might come back. If you see some growth coming from the stem, that is a good sign.

Cecilia Alva, You can cut the goldfish back by about 1/3. Generally, it's best to grow indoors unless you live in a tropical or semitropical area. You can also grow it outdoors in the shade in some ares in the summer.

hope ypou can help me..I have had my goldfish hanging for 5 years always bloomed..moved to an apt only one window..hung it and it didnt flower for 2 years until this month! I thought maybe it got long enough to hang down to a point its getting enough light but I dont know..I only got one flower it fell off yesterday..will I get more? what do I need to do to get it flowering again?

Miss Mary, not necessarily. Generally not in cold months.
