The wild meta has more of these issues. The main problem is that you can’t interfere with their evolutions early enough. Luck is the ultimate thing decks rely on when the card values have overflowed so much in hearthstone now

4:20 im an aggro mage player and i just try to get some freeze spells into snap freeze and just stun the minion until i have something on my hand to deal with it.. i also have the chance to use an objection on the gnoll before they play it, and basically all cards to deal with this, i can get from vast wisdom.. so ye.. eveolve shaman isnt really a problem for me.. the reason why i stopped grinding ranked is that u play every game against death knight and it doesnt matter which of the 3 decks i play against.. i cant win against them no matter what..

Death knight right now is it's whole own problem with how good it's location and egg etc is. I've never thought about playing snap freeze into aggro mage so I'm glad that works out for you

You are completly right. Its the most infuriating thing on the planet seeing a 12 12 DEATHWING on turn three because my opponent just happened to be lucky enough to draw the right cards in the right order. The dev team decided to start taking "die from hand" combos since schoolomancy, but getting rng'd and losing the game feels just as hopeless if not even more so. There is simply no disruption that can prevent my opponent from going Schooling on turn one, Gnoll, coin and location on turn two or three.

Yeah I remember when the devs were talking about removing charge too around that time because they didn't want OTK combos to limit card design but then they decided to do put stuff like this in the game too which are probably more infuriating to go against

So the issue with evolve shaman is they draw well? Wtf is this video... You were playing against a bloody deck recipe unholy death knight...

The issue with evolve shaman right now is that shamans can get huge boards and stats with very little counterplay and with somewhat good draws games can be decided by turn 4 with (again) very little counterplay. Consistently losing because you physically can't do anything against your opponent is unhealthy for the game.

@@ChauPau Everyone can get huge boards... That's just how the power level is currently... Not necessarily bad but thats a completly different issue and how the hell is there no counter play? Evolve shaman is not even the best deck right now and in no way shape or form nowhere near as being opressive as miracle rogue or quest demon hunter were not too long ago. Sure, getting hit with a schooling+gnoll+evolve turn 2 sucks and could be adressed, but thats a high roll and doesnt happen nearly as often as you think, it's a 3 card combo that you need to have turn 2 and only works when you're going second

Evolve Shaman is right behind the death knight decks in power level. Yeah it's not THE best deck buts it's still one of them. Just because it's not as oppressive as older decks doesn't make this a problem too. I also don't think it's just the the gnoll combo that's a problem. You can evolve 10 mana minions by turn 4 or 5 pretty consistently and right now most decks won't be able to deal with that. It just feels bad for a player to lose a game purely because your opponent can do a combo that you have no agency in stopping. The best counterplay to this deck is to freeze and remove their board with mage or play death knight (which has it's other problems). Maybe play some aggro deck too and then it becomes more interactive with the primoridal wave interaction. Control decks can do sort of well against this deck too but they haven't been tuned enough to keep up with the rest of the meta. So what's the point of winning against a shaman when you lose to everything else; especially when death knights are so popular? As you said there is more you can do against shaman than in previously oppressive decks, but the way you can do something against the shaman is more about going face and hoping they can't combo, play freeze-based decks which also sucks to play against, or to play control decks which underperform on ladder. AND even with this counterplay, if the Shaman high rolls then it was all for nothing.
