Agreed! So many shows drag out these plotlines over 5+ episodes but Heartstopper writers know how to quickly (and realistically) address it. Young Royals does this really well too

Yesssss! I have to admit I was feeling the exact same way the first couple episodes but I quickly trusted the plot and was never disappointed. The healthy communication is *chef's kiss*

literally. They're always expecting so much drama and angst and then Nick Nelson comes like "nah" and just resolves everything pretty much immediately. The first time I watched the show, I kept expecting Nick to somehow mess up or something. In retrospect, how more stupid could I get, he genuienly is a golden retriever, but you know, years of conditioning by watching all those extra dramatic shows...

That was one of the best scenes in the entire series. 🌈 The rainbow behind them and Nick beaming !!!

Yeah, I think the title of the show is directed to us the viewers bc the show stops many hearts with all these sweet warm and beautiful scenes

It's also called heartstopper because when nick/Charlie see eachother, they freeze and their hearts stop, cause they are so deep in love. But yes, the reason you mentioned is also a pretty good reason

And actually, she really's an Ally, Just see her face when Nick lives with Charlie! She Is happy if Nick Is happy even without her. And nobody can change my mind!

That is exactly what I’m trying to make my friends understand they just think she’s a selfish annoying pick me and mock her but she didn’t know he was bi, and how WAS she supposed to know before he came out.

That’s all well and good but she also lies and goes around getting pissy at other girls she thinks like him too… I don’t think she should be hated, she’s just a teenaged girl but it’s not like she did absolutely nothing wrong.

But the fact she went around telling people that she was with nick is what’s iffy, she’s not a bad character at all (her smile at nick and Charlie when she realises later on proves that) but you don’t go around saying you’re with someone when you haven’t had any romantic experiences with them

i do think the main reason is nick needed to at least "make up" with harry because they're the only people he really hangs around at school besides charlie thanks to being on the rugby team with them, and to have animosity during practice and stuff would be potentially threatening nick's safety on the field. and nick's whole thing is kinda being afraid to shake up the status quo, etc. do things that surprise or upset people. he's definitely a bit of a people pleaser in that sense, so he'd want to have that safety net, so to speak.

I feel like it's a combination of more things. I'm sure he was a bit intimidated with the way they were standing all on one side (at first I thought they were gonna beat him up), but also he wanted to extract himself from the situation quickly so he could go back to Charlie. You can hear in his voice he's over the conversation already and is trying to hurry it along. I also feel like while he was regretting leaving Charlie after such an intimate moment, he really did the best he could in that situation. Imagine if he didn't come to the group and they were looking for him and found him and Charlie? Definitely wouldn't be good. So I feel like in this situation I can forgive him for leaving, he only tried to get rid of them as quickly as possible without involving Charlie. Maybe he could've said something like "wait here, I'm right back." but Charlie would probably leave either way. And after that kiss I'm sure both of them were functioning with like 40% of their brain.

The intrusive thoughts really are like that. Knowing full well what was said in the moment, yet the brain keeps contriving ways to twist even the clearest events into layers of doubts and pity. I like how alice portayed this in the comic as well. The intrusive thought in that moment wasn't Nick flat out saying no. It was Nick's uncertain face when he was being called by one of the lads, and thinking that uncertainty was actually about them kissing. Both of those things _happened,_ but not in the way that charlie's brain is portraying it to be.

I’m 35 and am obsessed with it. It’s just gets me right in the heart and is so much of what I’ve always been searching for in the media. There are so few healthy and beautiful love stories out there at all (gay or straight) and basically all queer love stories come with the expectation of sad tropes, stereotypes, lost love etc. I CANNOT put into words how much it means to me to see two boys be guided by their love for one another and let not the outside world stop them. It’s exactly what I always needed. 💞 Really powerful stuff. I don’t know if I will ever settle for queerbaiting again after this. 😂 I’ve also heard of a lot of (mostly older) viewers being a bit heart broken by the show, bc of what we didn’t have growing up, or perhaps even now. That’s totally valid, but I think admitting what we deserve is a huge step in healing.

@@butterflypooo and I am 67 and remembering back to the impossibility of even contemplating "coming out" when I was at school - or even in my twenties. I know young people today have such a raw deal in so many ways but, for the gay community, things have come such a long way in such a short time. This show has me in tears every single time I watch it.

All of the party scenes were filmed at Hampton Court House in London. They had to film all of the scenes during the daytime, so the windows had to be curtained up to make it look like night time.
