I have Flamme Rouge and recently played Heat for the first time. I tend to agree with your take away. I am also quite impressed with all the additional modules included in Heat that only exist in expansion form for Flamme Rouge. I might need to play both more to really decide which I prefer, but certainly seems that Heat has more game mechanisms to explore. Flamme Rouge positioning is very important and pacing yourself, but they don't give you many tools to navigate. Heat gives you so much more strategic control.

Clean rule sets are important and I didn't think Heat could unseat Flamme Rouge just based on having a more cumbersome ruleset, more phases and several things to track. But, I was wrong. Heat may have more stops-and-starts, but it keeps the card play strategic, tactical and thematic. Flamme has always felt to me like it was going through the motions with their often being an outright correct card choice, something that Heat has, but to a lesser extent.

Heat is more game and more exiting but Flamme Rouge is the best with My kids of 6 and 8. It is mutch simpeler. Every occasion has its game.

Interesting video. I have not played Flamme Rouge. I tend to prefer heavier games than Heat but was convinced to purchase it by the universally positive reviews (particularly Luke Hector's, as he isn't one to just jump on a bandwagon...). I have to say I am hugely impressed by Heat. I have introduced it to many gamers and non gamers, and they all loved it. As you have not done a review,as such, on Heat, I'm wondering where it sits in your rankings? Please keep up your good work 🙂
