In this China vlog about living in Beijing as a foreigner, I am visiting Urumqi in Xinjiang. I experienced the Uyghur Autonomous Region, visited Heavenly Lake and the International Bazaar, and ate the best Kebab meat ever, but not everything went according to plan.

So glad it went well. Think of the thousands of Uighurs trapped in re education prisons for whom life under brutal Chinese occupation is much worse than a splash of rain.

It's a spectacularly peaceful, harmonious and wonderful place indeed . “ Seeing is believing! It's , therefore, no exaggeration to say one visit to XJ is worth ten times of visits to Switzerland. There are interesting cultural activities, exquisite cuisines, mesmerising scenery, diverse terrain , salt lakes and flourishing land and aquatic agriculture and infrastructure developments.

Heavenly Lake aka Tianchi, the best time to visit is in Spring/Summer, when the hills are filled with lush greenery of the pine trees, and the lake glistening in the sun. Not in this kind of weather and when the lake is frozen, basically going there during this time is a waste of money as well, nothing much to see.. but less crowded. kanas lake is actually more breathtaking but further.

Great attitude mate. Every trip comes with uncertainties. Weather cooperation is part of it. Gives you another reason to make a return trip hopefully under more favourable conditions to capture the postcard image. I can imagine her captivating beauty, even under cloud covered fog and misty conditions. Certainly a sight to behold with clear skies and turquoise water. Btw, there is another popular tourist destination in the Northeast Dongbei region at the North Korean border named Paektu aka Baitou mountain with similar beauty dubbed as "Heaven Lake" a glacial reservoir. Food vlogger Blondie in China featured in one of her earlier episodes. Worth a visit some day. Enjoy the rest of your adventure.

Thanks for the comment and as always, for the great support. I am sure I will go back to Xinjiang, maybe Kashgar if I can get time away. I need to look into that area in Dongbai, sounds amazing. Please allow me to add some more information for your trip to Xinjiang: Heavenly Lake in the legend is a goddess ( Xiwangmu ) of the face washing place, there are a lot of myths about her, so you can see in the lake side of her temple, the video shows is the big heavenly lake, in the middle of the mountain, there is another lake, we call it the small heavenly lake, because the small heavenly lake's water is more turbid than the big heavenly lake's, so people say that small heavenly lake is the goddess of the foot washing place.

@topsuperseven7910
@topsuperseven7910 3 ай бұрын
Yes, many because Cherokee carried on and have reservations where (little secret) they have more rights and privileges than most other American citizens. The are 'autonomous' and here is a big difference: - the Uighurs you see doing a govt sponsored song learned that 2 years ago in a Re-education camp and are assigned to sing those songs for tourists. 3 years ago those were unknown to any Uighurs nor were the Shanghai Theater costumes they are forced to wear. vs - The Cherokee just carried on doing whatever songs they ever wanted as long as they wanted, where they wanted and if a government agent shows up they tell the govt what to do.

What China did for this region you don't see American democracy done for any country they are supposed to help. Much of the success if any country has is more due to their own hardworking. 1939??? It seems that you really know nothing about XJ. The most popular actress in China at present is Dilraba, who is from the Uyghur ethnic group. The hottest rap singer is called Nawu(NW). My favorite Uyghur singer is called Esqer Memet. They can all sing in Chinese or Uyghur language. Esqer Memet has released many Uyghur language rock albums. In the parks and streets of Xinjiang, you can see people singing and dancing together. They are singing songs from before 1939? You westrners really live in a box isolated from the real world, fed with lies every day and night and you still are unwared of it, like the movie "The Truman Show".
