Press Release for Wet spell in Himachal Pradesh
Weather Forecast for Himachal Pradesh valid till 0830 IST of 01st July, 2024.
Conditions are likely to become favourable for advance of Southwest Monsoon into some parts of
Himachal Pradesh during next 3-4 days.
Light to moderate precipitation associated with thunderstorm/ lightning is likely to continue for next 24 hours at few places in the State. Precipitation activity is likely to get intensified 28th June onwards with fairly widespread to widespread precipitation in the State with light to moderate intensity likely at many places in low and mid hill districts of the state from 28 th June till 1 st July. Isolated spells of heavy rainfall very likely to occur in the districts of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur during 28th to 30th June with peak intensity on 29th and
30thJune.
Aforesaid spell is likely to be accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (40- 50
kmph) at isolated places in low and mid hill districts of the State during 28th to 30th June, 2024.
The average minimum and maximum temperatures likely to be normal to below normal during the
period.
Impact and Advisory
Strong wind may damage plantation, horticulture and standing crops.
Partial damage to vulnerable structures due to strong winds.
Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel
time.
Minor damage to kutcha houses/walls and huts.
Loose objects may fly.
Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses
Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.
Actions Suggested
Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
Take safe shelters & do not take shelter under trees.
Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
Immediately get out of water bodies.
Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity
Avoid going in open areas in view of expected thunderstorms
Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
Due to low clouds/foggy conditions visibility may be reduced.
Follow the advisories and guidelines issued by the concerned departments.
