"I have a two hour wait for my train . . . think I'll go take a walk and see the sights." Nice to know there are others who think that way. Thank you for taking us along on your walk through the beautiful snow!

I have always wanted to visit Aizu The statue that was at the train station is a memorial to the Gotai 13. That corps were only teenagers when that famous battle took place.. sad that no one remembers that.. there is a hill near the castle and museum that has the graves of those brave men.. Story goes that they took their own lives because they saw their castle on fire and thought all was lost.. Thank you for posting this video!

Whew, that was a crunchy squeaky slog of a walk through boot high snow! I would never have lasted so long, kept looking for a noodle shop to rest in & warm up with a good hot bowl of a local specialty. It’s a lovely town, much history. I’m sure a rest in a nice warm train while watching the snowy landscape go by made for a good ending!

Well it looks like a remembered to follow you here! To bad the old engine is covered with snow.. I like old trains.. I haven't been in snow like that in decades.. I miss it.. except the frozen car lock, the frigerated interiors, the battery drain from the cold.. But as long as I have all I need at home.. it is very pleasant indeed...

Such a different way of dealing with snow than in the US. Here everything gets plowed down to the pavement then salted to keep it clear or just slushy. City sidewalks are shoveled and salted.

Curious question Kuga. Do you worry that the snow is radioactive since you are in Fukushima? Or does it not matter?
@theharper1
@theharper1 2 жыл бұрын
Fukushima is an entire prefecture. The part affected by the accident is on the coast, a long way from Aizu Wakamatsu. There's no reason to be concerned in this area. This is a misunderstanding which has ruined tourism for Aizu.
