50 cal. bow and arrow
Finally, I am able to thumb draw this Manchu Bow. Measured originally 145lb@33.4" (metric = 66kg @84.8cm) but I'm only doing 32" for now. This is the heaviest manchu bow I know made of fiberglass. It's harder to pull than the Hungarian bow of similar draw weight, due to the higher initial draw weight and force draw curve.
Apparently, this arrow is too weak. I might need 2000 grain arrows of 3/4 inch thickness lol.

I lift and you don't need to be that strong to pull a bow like this, you are using your entire body when pulling since one arm is pushing the bow away while the other one is pulling the string and you are also moving in such a way the whole upper body is engaged in pulling the string, I think that if you can dumbbell row a 30 kilo dumbbell for sets of 12 you can do this easily and for as many reps as you want, and 30 kilo dumbbell rows is achievable in 1 year of lifting. I'm not saying this to stroke my ego, I'm just saying that you could do it to in 1 year if you try, hell even less if rather than doing a full body split you focus most of your effort on back, biceps and rear shoulders.

The thing is, breaking takes energy. In the video you're referring to, if the arrows hadn't broken, they would almost certainly have penetrated. In one of Tod's other videos, similar arrows easily penetrate similar thickness of steel in the form of a brigandine because the flexibility of the armor reduces the deceleration enough that they don't break. This is why I would like to see Manchu bows and arrows tested against similar armor. Storing more energy isn't the deciding factor here (though Manchu bows beat any other historical bow by that measure, to my knowledge); what interests me is the fact that Manchu arrow tips often have a long shank (9 cm or something) mounting them to the shaft, along with a rayskin wrap near the shoulder. With the shoulder being the part of the arrow that undergoes the highest stress (for the same reason that the bottom floor of a skyscraper supports a greater load than any floor above it), it's the most likely place to fail. If the reinforcement can prevent this, we should see significantly better penetration against plate armor.

They've actually recently found the graves of some medieval archers. The archeologists immediately knew they were archers because the bones in one of their arms was significantly larger and denser than the other from years of drawing back heavy bows. In 1000 years they'll dig you up and know you were an archer by looking at your bones lol

Mannnn, be careful with those wooden arrows. I had a wooden arrow snap as it accelerated upon release (archers paradox). It broke near the middle and the back half went through my hand and exploded when it impacted the riser. Had wooden shrapnel all through my hand. I'm sure your arrows are rated for the draw weight, but keep an eye on their condition as you reuse them. Sick video!

For reference, Olympic recurve bows for males are generally around 50 pounds if I remember correctly. That's a bit on the lighter side as 70 I would consider 70 pounds to be the "professional standard" for range and accuracy. 70 pounds would be impossible to draw for anyone who has no archery experience, even 50 would be very difficult for most. 130 pounds is utterly insane.

@Darren Harper when I was a. archery instructor I spent about haft the time repairing arrows. No heavy bows and only soft backgrounds. Longer aluminum shafts bent near the tip were trimmed down for the smaller bows for the younger kids. No compound bows, only long bows and recurve bows. Most were 30 pounds on down. I used to hunt small game with twenty-five pounds down to 20 pounds. I don't hunt or fish anymore: I don't like to kill things.
