The Hebden Dale walk from Heptonstall, proved to be a little more challenging than anticipated. Battling against a fierce wind for filming, walking and hearing conversations didn't help . The narrow ridge along the edge of Hardcastle Crag with drop below (to Hebden Waters) also had its moments. The lovely wooded valley of Hebden Dale was scenic though.
A picnic bench break in the middle of Clough Head car park, then up to the Pennine Moors. Having missed the section of trail over the moors due to lack of trail signs, and given the weather, mud and rain, it was probably the better option to continue back to Heptonstall.

It's definitely one of my windy, rainy, and boggy hikes. I love the old pumps and the cobbles. That Brook was in full flow. What a beautiful rainbow. Another beautiful hike. Thanks for sharing, Shanita.

Hi Chris. Yes quite a mix of weather and terrain on this walk. The rainbow sightings seem to have been a hit with a few viewers too. As before thanks for watching and support. Glad you had a good holiday cruise😊

Hi Shanita& Michael, this was certainly a trek and those tight squeezes at 6 inches were made for match stick folk i think 😊 And your splits were needed along that muddy way. Loved that framing of the landscape made me think of you two as you two certainly see! I keep saying as soon as it stops raining i will go walking, shouldn't be too long now. Thanks for the 🌈 rainbow, hope you didn't get too dirty after your slip oh dear! Enjoyed your adventure as always, i bet you feel so good when you have completed your filming and long walks, well done you two, until the next time then , see you soon!

Thanks Anna. Certainly prefer doing splits over mud than falling into it. As you say when I look back at our feats of achievements feel rewarded and if others enjoy too thats a bonus. All best to you 😊

Love the old cottages at the start and the sign for the 🦔 You both did very well on the steep climbs and those steep drops looked challenging. I saw the rainbows. Well done guys 👍

Thanks so much for your feedback. Nice to look back on our walk from the comfort of home rather than in that wind. Glad you noticed the rainbow at the very end.

I absolutely love Heptonstall and Hardcastle Crags and never tire of them. I did a very similar route last year and struggled finding the path that crossed from the empty place at Clough Head to Colden. It turned into a bit of a tough slog over rough moor.

I know the feeling about finding missing footpaths. But still enjoyed the adventure and seeing a new area with varied terrain. Thanks for support. Hope keeping well Chris😊

That was sure a windy walk Shanita, but still another beautiful one. I love Heptonstall, went there about 9 years ago and found it a lovely village. Not been to Hardcastle Crags though, another place on my to-visit list. I don't blame you for being wary of that path along the top of Hebden Dale, it did look a very steep drop. Just found your comment from a week or so ago on my Facebook page by the way. Thanks for asking, I'm still not feeling 100%. I've had flu and a chest infection which even caused me to have a few nights in hospital. I'm back home now though and am much better than I was. Appreciate your support Shanita. All the best 👍

Hello Patrick. So sorry to read hospitalised from chest infection. I do hope the worst is now over and getting back to full health again. Thanks for letting me know. There's often challenges on our walks. Also was trying out a sony camcord similar to yours, but had wrong settings so quality poor. Hopefully now rectified. 😊

Looks a nice route...i am guessing on a beautiful summers day it would be stunning

Yes I think the whole walk would have been completely different on a sunny day. But the weather being what it is - It's often pot luck and opposite to weather forecasts. Can't complain as had quite a few with brilliant sunshine walks.🌄☔

Nice to see and hear some wind and wuthering. Hopefully your 'fall' in the mud was just a soft landing and just a bit of mud to clean off. Nice wild atmosphere on this walk. 👍👍

It was certainly on the wild side weather and in parts. Michael has a nack of avoiding falling in mud. No such luck with me, but all part of outdoor life I suppose. 😊

Another great walk. Well done, Shanita, that one was obviously a bit hairy! The howling wind sounds fabulous though! True wild country. ❤ Also, I think that there's quite a few pockets of temperate rainforest around this area and Cragg Vale. 🎉

That's interesting to know about pockets of rainforest. It was quite a varied terrain which all contributes to a walk. Thanks for comments😊

That was another steep edged walk with some awkward edges to negotiate, and on a cold windy day, you certainly do pick them. Nice to see all the new tree planting. Some great shots, enjoyed watching, many people look but only a few see.

Must admit I thought that landscape frame quote so true Steve. As far as weather is concerned, we try to choose good weather forecasts. How often that's wrong is incredible !! But the howling wind seems to have appealed to some viewers as atmospheric !!.
