Now there are some heifers to be proud of. They remind me of my sixteen year old Jersey milk cow Betsy, who I lost to milk fever two years ago. Thank you again .

I am so sorry to hear about Betsy! It is a terrible thing, that milk fever. Did you have her for her entire 16 years?

@@KeithFinkFamilyFarm I agree that it's a heartbreaking disease since it affects the best producers, and in this case a favorite cow. No, I only had her for twelve years, but she was so special.

We had 2-3" this past week. We usually don't have too many problems with flooding here due to numerous swamps and many lakes. Cory's brothers, however, lost about 7acres of sweet corn after having about 7" of rain. They live near Cannon Falls, Minnesota and the Little Cannon River flows through their property and sometimes covers their fields. 😢

@@KeithFinkFamilyFarm there would be a few stories I could share some of em on FB, but here is one: when we still farmed in Switzerland the heifers after a few weeks on the farm where sent to a Alpine farmer on a raising contract and as pregnant heifers they would return. I can remember that we went to visit the heifers on the alpine pastures once I stayed with my brothers in the herders cabin and the next year I went with dad and the herder up higher where the heifers where grazing at the time.

Hmm, between the Jersey and the Jersey/Ayrshire crosses...it's really difficult to say. They can both be sweet, playful, and naughty :) Sorry, that probably doesn't help!

@@KeithFinkFamilyFarm That's fine. I remember when my dad used to get the "Farm Journal", a cartoon called I think "Ada the Ayshire" and she was always having adventures. They certainly look friendly.

Our son lives in Janesville, got a direct hit from tornado will need new roof and fencing around his house. Thankfully he has a whole house generator to keep him going.

That is correct. Water came down through light sockets and ceiling fans.
