They are my favorite black metal band of all time. They don’t have a single bad album imo and quite a lot of masterpieces. From what I’ve heard, sounds like a fusion of Opeth, Oranssi Pazuzu and Gentle Giant. I’m definitely gonna give this the listen asap.

Can't wait for you to review all of their albums! This album is incredible indeed. My favourites are probably Below The Lights, Ruun and In Times, but I admire all of their albums. Whenever I listen to Heimdal, I return to Frost.

Since Utgard drew me to Enslaved I‘m more than thrilled by Heimdal. What an exceptionally awesome record!

Another great addition to their catalogue that has literally 0 bad albums despite being 17 albums long at this point. There's not band more consistent than Enslaved imo

I really enjoyed Utgard and now im buzzing for this one. Iv pre-ordered the CD and cannot wait to blast it in my car, and no doubt terrifying any passengers.

I think E, Utgard and Heimdal are some of the most progressive and forward thinking music to come out of the black metal scene, and I applaud Enslaved for pushing boundaries over their illustrious career. They've achieved in this space what few others have, one other such musician being Ihsahn. I'm really happy to see these OG black metal artists reinventing their sound over time.

Enslaved got me through High School(just recently graduated). I used to study while listening to Enslaved.

I'm not as big into extreme metal as I am other genres, and as far as Black Metal goes, I prefer the more atmospheric/dungeon synth stuff. That said, I do still like Black Metal in general, and I do like Enslaved. "In Times" was one of few extreme metal records to ever make my AOTY, which is usually reserved for either Prog or Power Metal. I enjoyed the hell out of RITTIR, In Times, and M (I know it's pronounced "E" but "M" is the closest my keyboard can get to the rune), and though Utgard didn't really click with me, I'm still looking forward to seeing what this new record will bring. Enslaved have such a unique sound that no other band goes in to, so I have high hopes for this album to wow me like In Times did!

Being fairly new to black metal stuff, I always kinda figured Enslaved was just another blast beaty, tremolo picky, frog vocaly black metal band, but they're much cooler than that. Excellent stuff, glad I watched your review.

I've been into Enslaved for a long time and have about 3/4 of their releases on vinyl or CD, but when you said 16th album I got very unexcited for the review. They're a quality band but do I need 16 albums from everyone. Take a fucking break, does Iron Maiden even have 16 studio albums.

Meh kinda lukewarm on it. Some good riffs, but I don't care very much for all the Viking stuff. As a whole, I honestly just don't get it.
