The people from the Roots of Motive Power museum in Willits California brought in a GREAT Heisler steam locomotive to the Great Western Steam Up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City Nevada.
Heislers are a type of steam locomotive that uses gearboxes to reduce the speed and increase the power of a steam locomotive, a "geared locomotive". Other geared locomotives are Shays and Climax types as well as a few odd formats! But the Heisler has a "V Twin" engine mounted at the center of the locomotive and a "drive line" running the length of the locomotive to gearboxes at the wheel trucks. Very much like a car or truck...
This is the final show from the Great Western Steam Up from us.. We have a playlist of all seven shows with a link at the end. We hope you had as much fun (or more) watching them as we had making these.
